Take a stroll, take a drive: West Lincoln Avenue is open!
If you wanted to drive the east-west length of Ada using Lincoln Avenue this summer, you were out of luck. Beginning this week, however, your luck has changed.

That change of luck has been by design. The Village of Ada, with funding from the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Ohio Public Works Commission, is approaching completion of the West Lincoln Avenue improvement project. Funding from ODOT accounted for 80% of the project costs, with the remaining 20% being shared by OPWC and the Village of Ada. However, no local income tax money was used in the construction of West Lincoln Avenue.

The project was awarded in February 2012 to JDR Excavating, Inc. of Findlay. Though the closure of any street can cause inconveniences, JDR Excavating has worked hard throughout the summer to stay on track with the construction time line, and has even been ahead of schedule at several points throughout the project. The Village thanks JDR Excavating for their professionalism and determination to produce a project that will continue to improve life in Ada.

West Lincoln Avenue has now been opened to through and local traffic. While a few finishing touches need to be completed yet, the street is ready for both vehicle and foot traffic. The street lights are installed, and the sidewalks and street have been illuminated for approximately three weeks now. The post office drop box has been reinstalled along West Lincoln.

Improvement projects such as West Lincoln Avenue are part of what makes Ada a great place to live and work. As the weather turns to cooler temperatures, take a stroll down Lincoln Avenue, and appreciate the vision and hard work it takes to make these projects happen.
