Fishing derby and fish fry latest Hootenannies' activity

Report by Riley Fleece

The Hardin County Hootenannies met at Advisor Grant Mizek's farm. There we had our Fishing Derby and a fish fry.  We started with a brief meeting.  President Isaac Davis opened and asked Sean Hurley to lead the American pledge and Levi Beiler led the 4-H pledge. Secretary Miranda Holbrook took roll call and asked for our favorite foods.  There were seven members present.

They announced that our t-shirts have been ordered and should be in for our next meeting.  Riley Fleece did her safety report on Fire Safety in your home.  A reminder of some dates were June 20th entry for the State Fair and  on June 24 Quality Assurance Class is from 6:30 - 8:00 at the Hardin County Fair Grounds.

We want to thank Grant Mizek and his friends for a really nice fish fry.  The food was great!  And we want to thank the Mizek's for the fun fishing derby in their pond.  Prizes were Goldfish crackers, Swedish Fish, and Gummy Worms.

The next 4-H meeting will be at Levi Beiler's house at 2:00 Sun June 28th.  If you need directions, call Advisor Mizek at 937-539-0910.   Levi will do the health and safety report as well.  Faith Holbrook volunteered to bring refreshments.

Winners in our fishing derby are pictured: ( l to r) Seth Davis caught the most fish (five nice size bass), Sean Hurley got the persistence award catching a hard to catch bass, Carter Mizek caught the biggest blue gill, Riley Fleece caught the cutest fish, and Levi Beiler got the funniest fisherman award.
