Scott Wills named OAC women's tennis coach of the year

Five Ohio Northern student/athletes were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in women's tennis for the 2014-15 season in voting conducted by the league's nine head coaches.

Senior Michelle Tuma and freshman Lynn Kelly were named to the First Team, junior Christina Corbean was named to the Second Team and juniors Meghan Letizia and Taryn Stromback receive Honorable Mention All-OAC honors.

ONU head coach Scott Wills was named the OAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year.

Tuma is now a 4-time First Team All-OAC honoree.

She played No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles this season, posting a 23-16 overall record.

Tuma wrapped up her career as as ONU's all-time career leader with 46 career wins at No. 1 singles.

She ended her career ranked 11th all-time at ONU with 54 singles wins, is third all-time with 77 doubles wins and is sixth all-time with 131 wins overall.

Kelly tied for the team lead this season with a 22-5 singles mark, posted a team-best 22-6 doubles wins and led the squad with a 44-11 overall mark, playing primarily at Nos. 2-3 singles and No. 3  doubles.

Corbean is a three-time All-OAC honoree, earning First Team All-OAC honors each of the past two seasons.

She was third on the team with a 19-7 singles mark, was 17-13 in doubles play and was 36-20 overall.

Corbean played Nos. 2 and 3 singles and No. 1 doubles.

She will enter her senior season with a 96-56 overall record.

Letizia is a three-time All-OAC honoree. She was named Second Team All-OAC each of the past two seasons.

This season, Letizia played primarily at No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles.

She tied for team-best honors with a 22-4 singles record, was third with a 21-7 doubles record and was 43-11 overall.

In three seasons as a Polar Bear, Letizia ranks eighth all-time at ONU with a 64-17 singles record, is ranked sixth with a 70-12 doubles record and is fifth with a 134-29 overall record.

Stromback is also a three-time All-OAC honoree. She was named Second Team All-Conference as a sophomore in 2014 and Honorable Mention All-OAC in 2013 and 2015.

She was 12-5 in singles, playing primarily at No. 5, was a team-best 22-6 in doubles, playing primarily at No. 3, and is 34-11 overall.

Wills is in his 14th season as head coach of the Polar Bears and is now a 5-time OAC Coach of the Year award winner.

He is the winningest coach in ONU women's tennis history with a 288-76 (.791) record

The Polar Bears finished their season with a 21-4 overall record, won the OAC Regular Season title with an 8-0 league mark, won the OAC Tournament and advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA III Tournament.
