County Line Church of the Brethren
The church will host a Love Fest at 6:30 pm on Thursday, April 2, which includes a quiet time, music, meal, foot washing, message, and communion. Call 419-649-5364 for more information.

• The bishop of a thousand churches, Rev. Gregory V. Palmer, will preach at the Ada First United Methodist Church at 10 am on Sunday, March 29.
• The next PaintINN at the ONU Inn will be Wednesday, April 1, titled "Sounds of Spring" featuring a hand painted sheet of music with a spring theme. For details call 419-674-7499.
• The United Methodist Women will sponsor Barb Schwartz, a member of the trio "Believe," who will sing solo and talk on ™New Beginnings" at the church on Tuesday, April 7. The event is open to all.

• Medical Disposal Day will be 9 am until noon, Saturday, April 11, in the parking lot between RiteAid and Northern on Main.

Parkinson's Support Groups
• St. Rita's offers two monthly support groups now through November for those with Parkinson's disease:
First Thursday of every month, 2 to 3 pm, St. Rita's medical auxiliary center, 718 W. Market, Lima;
Fourth Wednesday of every month, 11:15 am to 12:45 pm, Henry's Restaurant, 810 N. Locust St., Ottawa.

Pulling the wool over our eyes?
Cats...they're independent, go-it-aloners, "I'll do it my way" creatures. So, why do they like to sleep in the same room with us, preferably in the same bed? I surmise that, deep down, cats want companionship and attention. Maybe our attitude toward them is a hoax they've played on us...or maybe it's just bad press.
An 1861 Main Street Home
Incredibly, the Ream House (now Carol Slane Florist) still stands. Most of the original homes on South Main have met the wrecking ball to be turned into businesses and parking lots.
One of the oldest homes in town, the Ream House was built in1861---the start of the Civil War and six years before Johnstown changed its name to Ada.
Well cared for yet today, the first floor houses the flower shop while the remainder of what was once a large farmhouse is divided into apartments.
After the Abraham Ream family moved from New Stark to Johnstown (now Ada), they lived in a log cabin just east of the house until their big house was completed.
Ream's land extended from South Main east through War Memorial Park. The tall trees in the center of the park are known as Reams Grove.
Ream was instrumental in financing the first Ohio Normal (now ONU) building. The Ream family members were active boosters of Ada and ONU.
