Sadie Mae Lyons was former owner of Lyons Antiques in Ada

Sadie Mae Lyons, age 80 died Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 6:29 p.m. at Lima Manor, Lima, Ohio.

She was born December 13, 1932 in DeGraff, Ohio to Jesse and Marie (Jones) Conner and they preceded her in death. On September 9, 1968 she married Frank T. Lyons and he died February 17, 2009.

Sadie was a homemaker and had previously been a foster mother for many years, helping many children. She previously owned an antique store in Ada called Lyon's Antiques with her husband Frank.

Apollo Career Center hosts northwest region school board conference

Apollo Career Center will host the Ohio School Boards Association Northwest Region Fall Conference Thursday, Oct. 3, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Apollo Career Center will be recognized for Community Service for the Big Brother’s Big Sisters Bowl-a-thon fundraiser organized by instructor Toby Prinsen and Skills USA officers.
Apollo graduate Jeff Horner will be honored with a Humanitarian award for sharing his prom king title with Alex Hunter.

Apollo Administrative and Medical Office Technology senior Dylan Green will also recognized for humanitarianism for his community service to Lima Memorial Hospital and his school and community.

ONU's Keiser Distinguished Lectureship in Life Sciences to discuss "Battling Hidden Hunger"

Ohio Northern University will host a lecture titled “Battling Hidden Hunger” by Dr. Sharon A. Norton, director of development for the Mathile Institute for the Advancement of Human Nutrition, in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m. This lecture is free and open to the public.

When did you graduate from Ada High School?
I was in the class of 2004.

What did you participate in during your years at Ada?
I was in cheerleading, show choir, band, where I played the flute, and in drama club.

Tell me about what you remember from Kindergarten.
(Long pause). Mrs. Shull was my teacher. That’s about it.

You lived in the country? Who was your bus driver?
Mrs. Dearth.

How high can it go?

How high can you build that tower? A student at Ready, Set, Grow Preschool, Ada, constructs one out of alphabet blocks that heads for the ceiling.
