Ada CIC meets Wednesday

Ada's Community Improvement Corp. (CIC) holds is October meeting at noon, Wednesday, Oct. 16, according to Angela Polacheck, administrative assistant of the Village of Ada.

The meeting is in Room 7, McIntosh Center on the Ohio Northern University campus. Tickets for the Town and Gown dinner will be available at the meeting. Tickets are $15 each.

Ada chamber meets Oct. 16

The October meeting of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce is at 8 a.m., Wedneday, Oct. 16, according to Deb Curlis, president.

The meeting takes place at Community Health Professionals, 1200 S. Main St., Ada.

Audrey Hankins, Forest, new Red Cross Hardin community chapter exe

The American Red Cross of Northwest Ohio announces the resignation of Collene Conley, Community Chapter Executive of the American Red Cross of Hardin County. Conley resigned her position effective Sept. 24.

The American Red Cross thanks Conley for her service and dedication to the Red Cross mission, and wishes her well in the future. Conley served as the Hardin County Community Chapter Executive for over five years and she and her cadre of volunteers created a Red Cross service delivery model that can only be described as excellent.

Junior Civic League members learn about ONU's HealthWise program

Junior Civic League met  Oct. 14, at the Rudolph H. Raabe Pharmacy Building on the campus of Ohio Northern University. 

Dr. Michael Rush, Director of HealthWise at the university gave the program. He talked about the 12-week walking program, which he developed for the university employees.

The participants who enrolled following a screening, developed their goals, had comprehensive lab tests and measured their progress throughout the program in its second year. 

On average the participants improved their cholesterol and blood sugar levels, weight, increased the amount of daily steps, minutes per day and days per week of exercise.

Buy local first Hardin County holiday contest inviting business participation

The Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance and the Buy Ada First Committee will host a Buy Local First Hardin County Holiday Contest Nov. 9 to Dec. 12. 

"We are currently seeking businesses to partner with on this initiative to encourage people to shop local this holiday season," said Annetta Shirk of the Hardin chamber.

Any Hardin County business may participate. Businesses would need to display the Buy Local First Hardin County sign and donate a gift certificate from your business. 

Community Economic Development Center at ONU presents entrepreneur workshop on ‘The Value of Good Sales Skills’

The Community Economic Development Center (CEDC) at Ohio Northern University continues its entrepreneurship workshop series in the Dicke Forum on Thursday, Oct. 24. The workshop will be preceded by a networking event at 5:30 p.m. The workshop will follow the networking event and conclude at 7 p.m.

The topic of the workshop will be “‘Always Be Closing!’ Entrepreneurial Insight on the Value of Good Sales Skills, and Why They are Needed More Than Ever Today” with Rob Lydic. This event is free and open to the public.
