Heavy snow forces postponement of ONU men's and women's basketball games with Otterbein

Heavy snow overnight and blowing and drifting snow on Wednesday has forced the postponement of the Ohio Northern men's and women's basketball games with Otterbein on Wednesday.

They will be played on Thursday, with the ONU women traveling to Otterbein for a 7:30 pm game and the ONU men hosting Otterbein in a 7:30 pm game at the ONU Sports Center.

Check back to ONUSports.com later for further updates should the weather conditions remain hazardous on Thursday.

Indoor garage sale Feb. 21-22 at Community Health Professionals

It's the first official Ada garage sale of 2014.

Community Health Professionals, 1200 S. Main St., will host a two-day garage sale. Dates and times are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22.

Donations to the sale are being accepted. All proceeds go to Community Health Professionals Hospice Patient Care Fund.

Village of Ada declares snow emergency; vehicles in snow routes must be moved

The Village of Ada has declared a snow emergency within the village today, Feb. 5.  All vehicles parked on any snow route as indicated on street signs must be moved immediately.

In addition, Hardin County is in a Level 2 Snow Emergency.

Snow Emergency Classifications

LEVEL 1: Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously.

ONU will open at 10 a.m. today; essential personnel report to their shifts

Ohio Northern University will open at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5. Essential personnel are asked to report for their regular shifts. Administrative staff members should report and open offices at 10 a.m. King Horn and the libraries will open at 10 a.m.

There’s a new barber in Ada and he’s open for business.

Seth Miehls, whose mother, Jill Epley Miehls is originally from Ada, opened Barbers on Main at 402 S. Main St., Ada, in late January.

Miehls graduated from Ron West Barber College, Dayton, in November.

“I was planning to start barbering in Lima,” he told the Icon. “Ada turned out to be a surprise. Along with his parents, he bought the 402 S. Main St. building, remodeled it and set up shop.
