Congrats!

Dexter Woods gets a congratulatory handshake for making the second Ada elementary honor roll of the 2014-15 school year. An awards assembly on Wednesday recognized fourth and fifth graders on the honor roll and students with perfect attendance. Watch for the honors rolls in the Icon soon. Tickets now on sale for Academic-Music purse raffle

The Ada Academic and Music Boosters will co-sponsor a purse raffle during Valentine’s Day weekend. 

The fundraiser will support academic endeavors/activites and music programs at the Ada Schools. The fundraiser is at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 15, at the Ada VFW. 

Tickets are $15 and include snacks and a chance at several door prizes. There are  designer purses, lia Sophia jewelry, 31 items  and other prizes totaling over $2,500.  

Raffle tickets can be purchased for those who will be unable to attend, which includes a chance to win a first prize of a Coach purse, second prize of a Coach wristlet, and a third prize of $25 in cash. 

Following retirement, Bob Reichenbach worked at Health Check

Robert "Bob" L. Reichenbach, 84, died Jan. 19, 2015, at 7:15 a.m., at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. He was born April 8, 1930, in Marion, Ohio, to the late William and Sibyl (Cooley) Reichenbach.  On Jan. 14, 1955, he married Carrol Goodwin Reichenbach who survives.

He was a life-long farmer and retired from Ex-Cell-O Corporation, Bluffton.  After retirement, he worked at his daughter and son-in-law's health food store, Health Check in Ada. He was an active member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton, and was assisted in the Bible Study group at Willow Ridge, Bluffton.

Ada Senior Citizens game day Jan. 28

The Ada Senior Citizens will meet at noon Wednesday, Jan. 28, in the Community Health Professional building for pizza and card games and/or board games.

Duke law professor presents Pettit College of Law 2015 Carhart Symposium

Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law will present the 2015 Carhart Symposium on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. in the Celebrezze Large Moot Court Room.

The program will feature “Risk Taking and Governance: The Duty to the Public,” presented by Steven L. Schwarcz, Stanley A. Star professor of law and business at Duke University, and “The Dangers of Modern Banking,” presented by Eyvindur G. Gunnarson, professor and dean of law at the University of Iceland.

This event is open to the public.

Ohio Northern University to host exhibit saluting the best of theater arts

The Peggy Ezekiel Awards Exhibit, a collection of works recognizing outstanding achievement in theater arts, design and technology, will be on exhibit in the Elzay Gallery of Art now through Feb. 27.

The work selected for the exhibit was produced by members of the Ohio Valley Section of the United States Institute for Theater Technology. This show displays the best in costume design, lighting design, scenic design, sound design, technology/craft, and architecture.
