Eula Young 1925-2015

Eula Mae Young, 89, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at 3:55 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.

She was born on June 24, 1925, in Rushylvania, Ohio, to Charles and Dora (O’Brien) Lansing, Sr. and they are deceased. She married Emmitt F. Young on Jan. 28, 1947 and he died Dec. 1, 1984.

Mrs. Young worked in housekeeping at Ohio Northern University for 15 years and at the Ohio Kentucky Manufacturing for 15 years. She was a member of the Grace Gospel Church of Ada.

Surviving is a brother, Roe Lansing of Ada; and several nieces and nephews.

New writing group for adults begins at Ada Public Library tonight

Writing can be a lonely process. But it doesn't have to be!  

New Ada Library staffer Amy Eddings begins a bi-weekly meet-up for adult writers and aspiring writers at 6 p.m., tonight, Wednesday, May 13, at the Ada Public Library. 

Eddings will lead the group in writing practice exercises in the manner of Natalie Goldberg's classic guide, Writing Down the Bones. Copies of the book will be made available at the library.

Twenty-two members of ONU's two band honoraries entertained passersby in the Railroad Park on Friday evening, May 1. The annual concert, under sunny but hot conditions, featured a variety of music, including gincluding patriotic, school, pop, and songs from musicals during the 40-minute concert. The group was directed by Ryan Briley from Lima Bath area.

Liberty Township's April rainfall average with rest of county

For the time period of April 15-30, Extension rainfall reporters recorded an average of 1.06 inches of rain in Hardin County. 

Liberty Township experienced 1.04 inches of rainfall. Check the attachment at the bottom of this story for all Hardin townships.

Last year, the average rainfall for the same time period was 2.21 inches.  Rainfall for the April 15-30 time period is 1.2 inches less than the ten year average rainfall during the same dates.

Dudley Township received 1.34 inches for the April 15-30 time period, the most of any of the township sites.
