Film fest at high school Tuesday afternoon-evening

Plus some free books from the school library for summer reading

Here's some last-minute news items from Ada schools as the school year winds down.

FILM FESTIVAL - The first-ever Ada Student Film Festival will take place Tuesday, May 23, from 4-7 p.m. in the school auditorium. It is free and open to the public.

FREE BOOKS IN THE LIBRARY: Need something to read over the summer?  Please stop in the library and ask Mrs. Smith about free books for you to take and keep.  First come, first served.

Catherine Freed Award recipient named

Kayla Hummell of Hilliard has received the 2017 Catherine Freed Outstanding Senior Female Leadership and Service Award from ONU. Hummell graduated from ONU this spring with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in applied mathematics.

Blanchard Pleasant Buckeyes 4-H meeting report

The Blanchard Pleasant Buckeyes 4-H Club held a meeting Monday, May 22nd, at the Hardin Northern Ag Building.

Recreation was Capture the Flag, led by Heidi Trachsel. There was 39 members, 9 advisers, and 4 guests present.

Megan Miller gave a Treasurer's Report, Emma Miller talked over the minutes of the previous meeting, and Cassie Deckling led role call. Dienna Clem went over some Community Service ideas for the club. Cassie Deckling went over livestock deadlines, and Bob McBride talked about more demonstrations. Livestock exhibitors went over Quality Assurance.

Women's tennis tournament June 17 in Bluffton

Bluffton Family Recreation will hold a women’s tennis tournament on Saturday, June 17.

The tournament takes place in Bluffton at the Howe Tennis Courts on East College Avenue, across from Harmon Field.

The tournament has the following divisions:
High School - doubles division: Championship and B (pro set)
High School - singles division: A and B
Adult – doubles division: Championship (pro set)

Entry fee is $25 for first entry and $15 for second. Entry deadline is Monday, June 12.

Ada senior Engish students dive into oral history

Ada High School College Preparatory English students, in a class taught by Melody Veltri, (Part 1) were challenged with the question: "What do you believe?”  The assignment continued with an oral history segment, which follows.

Rielyn Castle, created a 47-minute video with her grandfather, Willard Castle of rural Ada, now in his 80s.
