Icon dog of the week - Bruno

Meet Bruno. Bruno is a 1 year old male rottweiler mix. He weighs 71 pounds. Can you give Bruno his forever home?

To give a dog a forever home, contact the Hardin County dog shelter. It is located at 49 Jones Road on the west side of Kenton.

Hours: 9 am to 4 pm on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Phone: 419-674-2209.

Generally, about 20 to 25 dogs are available for viewing.

The shelter is also the place to contact for giving up a dog, if you find a lost or stray dog, or if you come in contact with a vicious dog. It costs $20 to surrender a dog, which pays for deworming and immunizations for when it is rescued.

Ada 1932:

June 1932 the transfer of the Ada Public Library from the Ada Federated Clubs to the new district library boards was in effect. Mrs. George Stambaugh was elected chairman of the new seven-member board.

July 1932 reconstruction of the elevator of the Ada Farmers Exchange was started. It had been destroyed by fire.

Perry outruns Bulldog boys

ADA - Visiting Perry outscored Ada 36-15 over the middle periods en route to a 69-43 non-league win over the Bulldog boys basketball team Saturday night.  

The Bulldogs fell to 2-3 with the defeat, while the Commodores evened their record at 3-3 with the victory.

Ada led 17-16 after a first period that saw seven lead changes as junior post Connor Frazier scored 10 points. But Perry netted the last 11 points of the half and held the Bulldogs to just four second period points to build a 33-21 intermission margin.

The Commodores then put together spurts of 9-0 and 15-0 in the second half to win going away.

Bulldog boys stifle Mustangs

ADA - Host Ada ran out to a big lead and held on to defeat local rival Allen East 40-32 Friday during their annual grudge match in the Northwest Conference boys basketball opener Friday night.  

 

The Bulldogs improved to 2-2 and begin 1-0 in NWC play with the win, while the Mustangs fell to 2-2 and 0-1 in league action after the defeat.

 

Ada raced to a 12-2 advantage and led 15-5 after one period on the strength of a trio of three-pointers by junior guard Cade Mullins. Young and scrappy AE stayed within striking distance, but never got closer than five points the rest of the way.

20 houses built in Ada on Friday evening

All within a matter of hours

About 20 houses were built in Ada on Friday evening, all within a matter of hours.

That's enough to fill a subdivision. The houses, all one-story, were made by kids...gingerbread houses.

If you are looking to entertain kids with something creative, and gooey, then building gingerbread houses fits the bill.

The project was sponsored by the Ada Public Library, but held at the United Methodist Church across the street because the library itself is undergoing an addition and renovation, but not of gingerbread.
