Where to give shoebox donations

First Baptist Church  in Kenton will be a drop-off location for collecting gift-filled shoeboxes for Samaritan's Purse project Operation Christmas Child from Nov. 13-20. The church will collect shoebox donations filled with fun toys, school supplies and hygiene items for children living in poverty overseas.

Other nearby locations include Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton; Union Chapel Missionary Church, SR 81 west of Ada; and College First Church of God, Findlay.

Alger church to honor veterans

The Alger First United Methodist Church, 101 E. Monteville, will honor and recognize veterans at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12.

Bob Weinberg, president of the Flag City Honor Flight, will be the featured speaker. He is also a member of the Society of the Honor Guard of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The Lima Beane Chorus will sing several hymns and a patriotic medley.

Trunk or treat

Church plans prayer service

People are hurting all over the world: Las Vegas, hurricanes Harvey and Irma, the Mexican earthquake, and more, so this Sunday the Ada Family Center will have a special prayer and praise service for families, communities, and the nation and its leaders. The church meets at 10:30 a.m. In McIntosh Center with Ray Hadley as pastor. All are welcome.

New church musician at Ada UMC

Noah Walter is the new church musician at the United Methodist Church. He is a junior music performance major at ONU from Findlay. His main area of study is piano, but he also plays the horn in the wind and symphony orchestras. He enjoys composing and arranging music.

Church to have community dinner for Alzheimer's awareness

First Baptist Church of Ada will have a spaghetti dinner and Alzheimer's presentation for the community on Sunday, Oct. 15.

 

Dinner will be at 6 p.m. with the presentation beginning at 7 p.m. Reservations for the spaghetti supper can be made by email [email protected] or by phone to the church office 419 634 8041 by Wednesday, Oct. 11.

 

The presentation will be "The Basics:  Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease" by Linda Pollitz, LSW, for Northwest Ohio Chapter of Alzheimer's Association.
