Junior Dominique Royal scored a career-high 22 points, including five straight in a key stretch in the final minute of play, to lead Ohio Northern past Muskingum 86-79 in an Ohio Athletic Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 10-11 overall and are 6-8 in OAC play, while the Muskies fall to 1-20, 0-14.

Clinging to a 78-77 lead, Royal scored on an offensive rebound and was fouled with 51 seconds to play. He missed the free throw, but senior Taylor Kuhlman grabbed the rebound and fed Royal for a layup and another three-point chance with 35 seconds left.

Senior's Alison Steinbrunner and Vicki Moga each posted top five national marks to lead the Ohio Northern women's indoor track & field team at the Joe Banks Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.

ONU won the event with 165 points, while Otterbein was second with 123 points and John Carroll was third with 103.5 points.

Moga posted a second place finish in the high jump, clearing 5-6.00. That leap now ties her for the third highest in the nation.

Steinbrunner broke the ONU school record in the 1 mile run, finishing in 4:58.55, which places her second in the country.

Junior Josh Colbert and sophomore Ryan Brancheau each won two events to lead the Ohio Northern men's indoor track & field team to a first place finish at the Joe Banks Invitational at the ONU Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears won the event with 148.5 points, followed by John Carroll with 107.5 and Rose Hulman (Ind.) with 101.5.

Colbert was victorious in the long jump, posting a leap of 22-7.75.

In the 60 meter dash, Colbert posted a time of 7.06 seconds, barely beating junior Francisque Pierre-Jerome who came in second in 7.07 seconds.

Brancheau won the high jump with a leap that covered 6-4.00.

Sophomore Brittany Miller won the deciding match to lead the Ohio Northern women's tennis team to a thrilling 5-4 victory at Kalamazoo (Mich.) on Saturday.

Miller broke the 4-4 tie with a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles.

The Polar Bears scored a doubles victory No. 3 doubles when the freshman tandem of Meghan Letizia and Taryn Strombeck scored an 8-2 victory.

Northern then dropped No. 1 singles, before freshman Rachael Miller made the match 3-2 with a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.

Senior Morgan Dumbaugh scored 21 points to lead the No. 6 Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a 80-49 victory over Muskingum on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, ONU improves to 20-1 and a perfect 14-0 in OAC play, while Muskingum falls to 7-14, 2-12.

The win extends the Polar Bears win streak to a school record 19 games and also clinches at least a first round bye in the OAC Tournament.

Dumbaugh was 8-of-9 from the field and also grabbed three rebounds.

Senior Joanna Snyder chipped in with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, while junior Cenzie Yoder added 10 points and nine rebounds.

Senior Joanna Snyder has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 team for women's basketball in voting done by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Snyder, who has a double major in mathematics and education, will now move on to the national ballot for Academic All-America.

This season, she has started in all 20 contests and ranks second on the team in scoring at 13.8 ppg and in rebounding at 6.2 rpg.

The Capital One Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their performance on the floor and in the classroom.
