AHS boys basketball buries Gophers in Feb. 21 tourney

ST. MARYS–The Ada High School boys basketball team stifled Hardin County foe Ridgemont 58-38 in Div. IV sectional semifinal action Tuesday night, February 21, at St. Marys.

Ada improved to 10-13 with the decisive win. Ridgemont ended up 7-16 after the season-ending loss.

Ada led 16-11 after the first period and stretched the margin to 27-16 at halftime. The Bulldogs built a comfortable 41-22 margin after three periods.

The Gophers were not able to reduce their deficit under double digits in the second half.

The Bulldogs extended their lead to 44-22 early in the fourth period, and won handily by 20.

AHS boys basketball defeat Wildcats in home finale

Playing at home, the Ada High School boys basketball team decisively defeated Vanlue 77-55 to end the regular season on a high note Saturday afternoon, February 18.

The Bulldog senior duo of Spencer Wall and Carter Conley combined to pour in 52 points and celebrate Senior Day well.

Ada improved to 9-13 with the convincing non-conference victory. The Wildcats fell to 9-13 after the loss.

"It was a pretty solid effort; we led the whole way," said second-year Ada head coach Vince Halliday. "Carter got us going early, and Spencer carried us in the second period. They went out with big games.

"I was happy to put our nine seniors out on a winning note at home," he added.

Ada senior Casen Jones started the game by hitting a right wing trey on the first Bulldog possession. A layup by Bulldog Conley made it 7-0 before Wildcat ace Jerome Kloepfer answered with four points.

The Ada HIgh School girls basketball team saw their season come to an end as they lost to New Bremen 45-32 in the Div. IV sectional finals Saturday night, February 18, at Lima Shawnee.

BOWLING GREEN–Ada sophomore standout Lily Baumgartner punched a return ticket to the Div. II state swim meet at Canton in two events next week, headed by a record-setting performance at the district event in Bowling Green Friday.

AHS boys basketball felled by Lincolnview in NWC finale

The visiting Ada High School boys basketball team lost a 53-52 heartbreaker at Lincolnview Friday night, February 17, in the finale to the Northwest Conference season.

The Bulldogs were in front the entire game until the final seconds to fall in gut-wrenching fashion.

Ada led by 13 points heading to the final period. The Bulldogs were still ahead by four points with 20 seconds left. Lancer junior Cal Evans hit a three-pointer to inch the hosts with 52-51.

ONU men’s lacrosse picked to finish third in OAC Coaches Poll

ONU opens its 2023 schedule on Saturday hosting Alma (Mich.) at 1 p.m.

The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team was picked to finish third in the 2023 Ohio Athletic Conference Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches.

The Polar Bears received 65 points in the poll.
