Bulldog Arnett 2nd at Parkway Invite

PARKWAY - The Ada varsity wrestling squad competed at the 15-team Parkway Holiday Invitational meet Saturday.

Ada finished 11th at the annual event with 56 points. Celina won the team title with 215 points, followed in second by host Parkway (200).

The Bulldogs were only able to have three wrestlers compete due to injuries. Ada senior Noah Arnett went 4-1 in the heavyweight division to finish a strong second.

"We were winning in six of the seven matches we lost when our wrestlers got pinned," explained Ada first-year head coach Eric Perkins. "Overall, we had 19 takedowns compared to our opponent's four."  

Men’s track picked to finish 3rd in OAC

The Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field program has been selected for a third-place finish among the Ohio Athletic Conference under 10th-year head coach Jason Maus in the annual OAC Coaches Preseason Poll.

 

The Polar Bears received 62 points from the conference's ten head coaches in the poll, which trailed the runner-up spot by just eight points.

Bulldogs surge late past Jefferson behind Coulson, earn 1st win

ADA - Paced by junior Phillip Coulson's hot hand, host Ada rallied from a 12-point third period deficit to defeat Delphos Jefferson 47-45 in a nailbiting Northwest Conference boys basketball encounter Friday night.  

The purple and gold improved to 1-7 and 1-1 in the NWC with their first victory, while the Wildcats fell to 0-7 and 0-1 in league play with the tough defeat.

Coulson led the late surge by scoring all 16 of his points in a row during the final nine minutes, including 13 straight in the decisive fourth period.

Friday, December 21.

The Bulldog senior group pictured from left, next to head coach  
Troy Erickson - Teara Coulson, Kaiti Newland (along with twin sister  
Sydney Newland), Olivia Alexander, Nicki Lehsten and Maddie Gossard -  
won a program-record 57 games in their four seasons, as well as the  
first district title in program annals.

Delphos downs Ada girls

DELPHOS- Visiting Ada fell behind early and lost 62-25 at Northwest Conference foe Delphos Jefferson in girls basketball action Thursday evening.

The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in league play with their fourth consecutive loss. Meanwhile, the Lady Wildcats improved to 4-6 and 1-1 in the league following the win.

DJ ran out to a 23-6 first quarter lead and stretched it to 37-8 by halftime. The Wildcats won a much closer second half, 25-17.

Ada freshman guard Kirsten Poling led the Bulldogs with 13 points. Sophomore post Megan Light added six.

Women’s basketball now 1-4 in OAC

TIFFIN — The Ohio Northern women's basketball program lost 82-77 in overtime to Ohio Athletic Conference rival Heidelberg Wednesday in Tiffin.

 

With the loss, the Polar Bears move to 6-4 overall and to 1-4 in OAC action. The Student Princes are now 5-5 overall and 2-3 in the OAC.

 

Northern received 20 points from senior guard Jenna Dirksen and 18 points from junior center Emily Meschler.
