Hunter Wells 14th in the 30-runner field

Hardin County cross country meet

KENTON - The Ada boys cross country team finished fifth at the five-team Hardin County Invitational meet hosted by Kenton Monday evening.

Hardin Northern won the team title with 45 points, barely edging Upper Scioto Valley (46) by a point. Kenton was third (53), Riverdale fourth (84) and Ada fifth (113).

Bulldog senior Hunter Wells ended up 14th in the 30-runner field to register the top Ada showing. He covered the 3.1-mile course in 20:50.5.

Ada's Seth Swaney finished 22nd and sophhomore teammate Riley Ferguson was 24th, followed closely by Connor Daugherty in 25th. Keegan Giddens was the fifth Bulldog runner in 29th

Ada girls shut out by Mustangs

HARROD - The Ada girls soccer team traveled to local rival Allen East and lost 3-0 in a Northwest Conference match Monday night.

The defeat dropped the Lady Bulldog record to 3-11-1 overall and 2-4-1 in NWC play. Ada tied for fourth place in the league standings with Crestview.

AE improved to 9-5-1 overall with the win and is 4-2 in the NWC, good for third place. Spencerville is first in the league race at 6-0, with Bluffton second at 5-1.

"The first half was fairly even," said Ada head coach Doug Poling. "We had a great opportunity to close the gap late in the second half but hit the crossbar."

Ada kickers fall at Allen East 2-0

HARROD - Visiting Ada lost to backyard rival Allen East 2-0 in boys Northwest Conference soccer action Monday night.

The win lifted the AE record to 6-6-1 overall and a perfect 4-0 in NWC play. Ada fell to 8-6-1 overall and finished 3-2 in the NWC, good for third in the six-team league.

AE and Bluffton (11-2-1, 4-0 NWC) will meet for the outright NWC title in Harrod on Thursday, October 10 at 5 p.m. The Pirates have captured four straight NWC titles and have won 24 consecutive league matches.

Ada hosts non-league foe Liberty-Benton Wednesday, October 9 in their regular season finale.

Ada girls seeded 10th in sectional

Will face Ashland Crestview in tourney opener on Oct. 15

FINDLAY - The Ada girls soccer team was seeded 10th at the 11-team Div. III Findlay sectional drawing held Sunday.

Ada (3-10-1) will play at second-seeded Ashland Crestview in the first round Tuesday, October 15 at 5 p.m.  

The Bulldog/Crestview winner will then host 11th-seeded Willard Thursday, Oct. 17 at 5 p.m. The victor advances to the Findlay district semifinals.

Bluffton (8-5-1) got a first round bye and was seeded fifth. The Lady Pirates will host seventh seeded Mansfield St. Peter's Thursday, Oct. 17 at 5 p.m.

Ada boys' soccer team seeded 4th in sectional

Will host Cory-Rawson in first round on Oct. 16

TIFFIN - The Ada boys soccer team was seeded fourth at the 12-team Div. III Tiffin sectional drawing held Sunday.

Ada (8-5-1) will host ninth seed Cory-Rawson in the first round Wednesday, October 16, at 5 p.m. The Bulldogs shut out C-R 5-0 Sept. 19.

The Bulldog/Hornet winner will take on sixth seed Willard Saturday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. Willard received a first round bye and will play at Ada if the Bulldogs advance past C-R.

It's ONU over Marietta 31-23

All-American Christiaan Williams runs for season-high 183 yards

ADA — Junior All-American Christiaan Williams (Sidney/Anna) ran for a season-high 183 yards and a touchdown to lead the Ohio Northern football team to a 31-23 Homecoming victory over Marietta on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 3-2 overall and are 3-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Pioneers fall to 3-1, 2-1.

Williams carried the ball 30 times as ONU finished the day with 235 yards rushing and 429 yards of total offense.

Senior quarterback Anthony McFadden (Chillicothe/Paint Valley) completed 12-of-20 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns for the hosts.
