Andrew Rush pace Bulldogs with a 9-hole score of 52 in county invitational

KENTON - The Ada golf team finished third in the four-team Hardin County Invitational at the Kenton Memorial Golf Course Saturday.

Host Kenton won the tournament with a total of 187 strokes. Ridgemont finished second with a 196 score, followed by Ada (237) and Riverdale (249).

The Bulldog linksters improved to 2-22 after the event.

Junior Andrew Rush paced the Bulldogs with a nine-hole score of 52. Senior Jacob Morgan was second with a 60, followed closely by junior Dexter Woods at 61. Sophomore Geddes Klingler was the fourth scorer with a round of 64.

Junior Kamron Wilkerson added a score of 65.

Listing of games is on the school athletics page

Ada school has partnered with WOSN to livestream as many of its home athletic events as possible this season, according to Eric Perkins, Ada athletic director.

He added that the school hopes to include junior high and high school volleyball, football and soccer to this program.

A listing of games to be livestreamed will be available on the school athletics page. The school is working to find a way to broadcast games played on the road. 

In order to access these games viewers will need to create an account on WOSN’s streaming website. All you need to do that is a valid email address. 

Ada spikers cage Polar Bears

Light led Ada with 11 kills and two blocks. Wills contributed eight kills, 10 digs, three aces and two blocks.

ADA - The Ada volleyball team had to rally late in the third set but prevailed to sweep visiting county rival Hardin Northern Saturday afternoon.

The 25-15, 25-10, 26-24 non-league victory upped the Lady Bulldog record to 5-2. It was their third straight sweep in three home matches over five days. Ada is now 4-0 on home soil this season.

The struggling Lady Polar Bears fell to 0-5 with the defeat.     

ONU's Williams named second team pre-season all-American

 Ohio Northern senior running back Christiaan Williams (Sidney/Anna) was named Second Team Preseason All-America for 2020 by D3football.com.

Williams is ONU's all-time leading rusher with 4,193 rushing yards in his 29-game career.

He was named a 2nd Team All-American by the Associated Press and the American Football Coaches Association as a sophomore in 2017, was an Honorable Mention All-American by D3football.com in 2019 and is a 3-time 1st Team All-OAC honoree.

He became the first ONU freshman to rush for 1,000 yards, gaining 1,208 in nine games in 2016.

Girls' soccer: Ada blanks Upper Sandusky 1-0

ADA - The Ada girls soccer team put up a strong second half defensive stand to edge visiting Upper Sandusky 1-0 Thursday night.

The hard-fought victory improved the Ada girls record to 2-3. US fell to 1-3-1 with the defeat.

Bulldog junior Hailey Robirds scored the lone goal on a corner kick from classmate Lauren Mullins with about 16 minutes left in the first half. 

Ada then made that slim lead stand up with a bend but don't break defensive showing that withstood several Ram thrusts down the stretch.

Volleyball: Ada takes decisive win over Arlington

Trailed only once the entire match and was in control throughout

ADA - The Ada volleyball team won its second home match in three nights with a decisive sweep over visiting Arlington Thursday evening.

The 25-18, 25-20, 25-18 non-league victory upped the Lady Bulldog record to 4-2 this season. The Lady Red Devils fell to 0-5 with the defeat.     

Ada trailed only once the entire match and was in control throughout. The few times Arlington pulled close, the Bulldogs managed to answer with a spurt of their own to rebuild the lead.

"I felt like we played solid," said Ada head coach Kyleigh Tabor. "We played with confidence."
