Ada 'Gators splash Findlay Frogs

Kenton comes to town next Thursday

ADA - The Ada summer swim team soundly defeated the visiting Findlay YMCA Frogs in West Ohio Aquatic League competition Thursday night.

Ada beat the visitors 622-302 in the combined boys/girls team standings to even their season record at 2-2.

The Alligator girls won over Findlay 302-159, while the Gator boys beat the Frogs by a 320-143 count. Both the Ada boys and girls teams are 2-2 in their respective dual meets this summer.

ONU men's soccer season begins Sept. 1

Ohio Athletic Conference portion of the schedule kicks off on Oct. 2 at home against Marietta

The Ohio Northern men's soccer team will open its 2021 season on Sept. 1 with a home match against Trine (Ind.) under third-year head coach Chris Matejka.

The Polar Bears will then travel north to play at Calvin (Mich.) and Hope (Mich.) Sept. 3-4.

Northern will then return home to host Concordia (Mich.) and Huntington (Ind.) Sept. 10-11 at Kerscher Stadium as part of the annual ONU Invitational.

Northern will also host Hanover (Ind.) and travel to Ohio Wesleyan, Westminster (Pa.), Carnegie Mellon (Pa.), Rose-Hulman (Ind.) and Kalamazoo (Mich.) in non-conference action.

State high school football title game moves to Canton

The Ohio High School Athletic Association and Pro Football Hall of Fame on Wednesday announced a three-year agreement for the Hall to host the state football championships in Canton. The games, across Ohio’s seven divisions, will be played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium beginning in 2021.

Pro Football Hall of Fame Chief Administrative Officer Steve Strawbridge and OHSAA Executive Director Doug Ute outlined the partnership at a news conference in the Hall of Fame’s James Allen Family Gold Jacket Lounge.

ONU volleyball 2021 season set

The Ohio Northern volleyball team will open its 2021 season with a non-conference road match at Earlham (Ind.) on Sept. 1 under second-year head coach Katie Kuhn.

The Polar Bears will return home to host the 42nd Annual ONU Invitational on Sept. 3-4 at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears will also play in-season tournaments at Illinois Wesleyan and Calvin (Mich.) to go with non-conference matches with Ohio Wesleyan, Defiance, Denison, Wooster, Kenyon and Bluffton.

Northern will begin the quest for its 23rd Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season title with a home match against Capital on Sept. 25.

WAPAKONETA - The visiting Ada summer swim team lost to Wapakoneta in West Ohio Aquatic League action Monday night.

Ada was defeated 808-251 in the combined boys/girls team score to drop to 1-2 this summer.

The Alligator boys fell 360-149, while the Gator girls lost 448-102 in the meet held at the Wapak YMCA.

Lily Baumgartner led Ada with three individual race wins in the girls 13-14 age bracket.

Winning two events for the Alligator team were Tea Griffith, Eli Esguerra, Carlie Oldfield, Jentzen Lawrence, Landry Harriger and Lincoln Harriger.

Ada's 2nd to 4th grade coach-pitched softball team

Ada’s 2nd to 4th grade coach-pitched softball team is its league champions.

Over the weekend Ada beat Allen East Larrison 220-0 in a semi-final match. Then in the title game Ada beat Allen East Abbey 16-15.
