Playing at Ridgeway, the Ada High School baseball team scored six runs in the sixth inning at Hardin County foe Ridgemont to defeat the Gophers 9-4 on a windy Friday evening, April 15.

Ada improved to 3-5 with the non-league win over previously undefeated Ridgemont, which fell to 4-1 with the loss.

Bulldog junior hurler Roman Snyder earned the pitching win as Ada hurled its second one-hitter in as many days. He struck out nine over five innings.

Ada broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the third inning. They plated two more in the fifth frame, then stretched the lead to 9-0 with the six-run sixth.

Playing at Ridgeway, the young Ada High School varsity softball team lost at Hardin County rival Ridgemont 7-3 in a non-league contest Friday evening, April 15.

The Lady Bulldog record dropped to 2-6 after the defeat. The Lady Gophers improved to 4-2 with the victory.

"We hit the ball hard a lot," said Ada head coach Jeff Bassitt. "Their left fielder caught three or four line shots." 

The Bulldog girls jumped on top with a run in the top of the first inning. Freshman hurler Jenna Bassitt singled, and classmate Belah Price delivered a two-out RBI double to put the Bulldogs ahead 1-0.

ONU freshman Amelia Burger (Centerville) finished as individual runner-up, leading the Ohio Northern women's golf team to a second place finish at the Adrian (Mich.) Spring Invitational on a windy Thursday, April 14 at the Hills of Lenawee Golf Course.

After several rainouts, the Ada High School tennis team hosted its first home match of the season and lost 5-0 to a strong Bryan club on a windswept Thursday evening, April 14.

The Bulldog record dropped to 0-2 with the defeat. Bryan won all 10 sets played in the match.

Ada senior southpaw Dexter Woods fell at first singles, as did junior Brendan Jameson at second singles. Junior Amelia Alexander lost at third singles.

The Bulldog doubles tandem of Geddes Klingler and Isaac Williams went down to defeat, as did the other Ada duo of Nate Williams and Riley Ferguson.

The Ada High School boys and girls track and field teams competed at the 13-team Columbus Grove Bulldog Invitational Thursday evening, April 14.

The Ada girls finished eighth while the Ada boys came in 10th.

Anna captured the girls team title, while host Grove won the boys team crown.

Junior Courtney Sumner took fourth in the 400 meters and sixth in the long jump to pace the Ada girls.

The Ada High School baseball team led 2-0 heading to the last inning, but gave up three two-out runs to lose a 3-2 heartbreaker to local rival Bluffton Thursday, April 14, on a cool, windy evening at War Memorial Park.

Ada fell to 2-5 and 0-2 in the Northwest Conference with the tough defeat. Bluffton improved to 2-5 and 1-0 in the NWC after the comeback win.

Bulldog senior hurler Kadin Phipps took a no-hit shutout into the seventh inning as Ada clung to a 2-0 lead.
