Lady Bulldog match postponed

The Ada girls soccer match scheduled at home vs. Cory-Rawson for September 22 was postponed due to rain.

No makeup date has been set yet for the match.

The Bulldog girls (2-5-1, 0-1-1 NWC) visit defending NWC champion and league-leader Bluffton (6-2-1, 4-0 NWC) Monday, Sept. 27.

Bulldog boys sting Hornets

Playing at home, the Ada boys soccer team defeated local rival Cory-Rawson 4-1 in North Central Ohio Soccer Association action on a cool, rainy Wednesday, September 22, at War Memorial Stadium.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-4-3 overall and 1-2 in NCOSA action with the decisive win. The Hornets fell to 6-3-1 and 0-3 in NCOSA play after the defeat.

Junior Carter Conley and freshman Logan Jolliff each netted two goals to pace Ada. 

Abdellah Al-Olimat passed out a pair of assists.

Sophomore keeper Colton Long was credited with two saves in goal.

Short-handed Ada falls to Pirate spikers

Plagued by illness, host team Ada was swept by local rival Bluffton in a Northwest Conference volleyball match Tuesday evening.

The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 1-10 overall and 0-3 in the NWC with the 25-16, 25-12, 25-12 defeat.

The Lady Pirates improved to 9-2 and 2-0 in league play with their seventh consecutive win. 

"I am really proud of how hard we played," said Ada head coach Kyleigh Woodruff. "I was glad to see the underclassmen get a chance to play, and they played hard. Bluffton is a really good team."

Pirate senior setter Skyler Scoles recorded her 2,000th career assist in game two and got a nice ovation from the crowd during abrief stoppage of play.

Ada girl kickers downed by Grove

Injury-plagued Ada lost 13-1 to visiting Columbus Grove in girls Northwest Conference soccer play Monday evening, September 20, at War Memorial Stadium.

The Ada girls record dropped to 2-6-1 overall after the loss, while their NWC ledger fell to 0-2-1.

The CG girls improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in NWC play with the one-sided victory in the battle of the Bulldogs.

CG led 6-1 at the half. Senior Julia Kamatali scored the lone Bulldog goal. Grove tacked on seven more goals after intermission.

Ada girls run in W-G Night Invite

A truncated Ada cross country team ran at the Waynesfield-Goshen Night Invite race on a warm Saturday evening, September 18.

The two participating Ada girls harriers came home back-to-back just three seconds apart.

Bulldog sophomore Jillian Hazelton crossed the tape in 18th place with a time of 27:18.

Ada sophomore Elsie Allen finished right behind her in 19th with a time of 27:21.

"The girls did amazing and this is the hardest I have seen them push themselves," said Ada head coach Josh Klein. "The girls were within 40 seconds of their personal-best records, and this was a hilly course.

High School Football Report ending Sept 17

Ada visits Delphos Jefferson in a Northwest Conference week six battle Saturday night, September 25.

The Wildcats (2-3, 0-2 NWC) led 28-17 in the fourth period at Crestview Friday, but lost a 31-28 heartbreaker to a late Knight two-touchdown rally.

DJ beat crosstown foe St. John's and Perry while losing to Columbus Grove and Ayersville in their first four games.

Ada beat Delphos Jeff in their last two meetings in 2018 (38-6) and 2019 (74-70). The rivals did not meet in 2020's shortened season.

DJ's last win over Ada was in 2017 by a 35-33 count. The Bulldogs edged the Wildcats on the road 27-22 in 2013 in their lone playoff meeting.
