New ONU assistant director of athletics introduced

Ohio Northern has named Kourtney Wilson as its new assistant director of athletics.

"I am very excited to have Kourtney join our athletics family and university community," ONU director of athletics Tom Simmons said. "We are looking forward to taking advantage of her experience in athletics for the benefit of our student-athletes."

Wilson fills the position vacated by Michele Durand, who is now the head women's basketball coach at the University of Findlay.

Allen-Eberly wedding announcement

Reverend and Mrs. Patrick Allen of Ada would like to announce the marriage of their son Jon Allen to Gabby Eberly, daughter of Leroy and Sheree Eberly of Canfield, OH, on July 24, 2022 at the Mohican Wedding Resort.

Jon will graduate with a BA in Communications and Gabby (BS in Neuroscience) receive a graduate degree in Social Work in Spring 2023 from the Ohio State University. The couple lives in Columbus, OH.

Four generations of Allens attended the celebrations, including the groom's grandfather Dave Allen from Mercer, PA, father Patrick Allen, brother Will  from Toledo, OH and newphew Samuel (Will's son).

 

AHS yearbooks ready for pickup

2022 Ada HS Yearbooks are in and will be ready to pick up on Wednesday, August 17, according to Tracie Amburgey, yearbook co-advisor.

You may pickup advance orders or purchase yearbooks at the school open house:

  • 6:30-8:00 p.m., August 17
  • Mr. Klingler's room
  • $50.00 

If you can't make it to the open house, please send an email to Mr. Klingler ([email protected]) or Mrs. Amburgey ([email protected]) to arrange a time to pick one up.

Summary of August 16 Council Meeting

All members of the Ada Village Council, the mayor, and village administrators were present for the August 16 regular meeting on the second floor of the Ada Municipal Building.

Mayor Dave Retterer conducted the meeting, which included the approval of the minutes of August 9 and the payment of bills. (Minutes and agenda are on the village website HERE.)

Wardrobe changing weather

The weather observed in Pandora by Guy Verhoff during the period of August 1-15 was a change of pace.

With temperatures ranging from 51 to 91, short pants and short sleeves were sure to result in a few goosebumps.

Kauffman and Buckell win virtual reality competition

Developers claim $20,000 prize for designing social VR experience 

Bluffton residents Ross Kauffman and Tobias S. Buckell were awarded first prize in the Meta (formerly Facebook) Horizon Worlds Builder Tracks competition. The duo claimed the $20,0000 prize for constructing the "Studio 51" experience in Meta's Horizon World platform, a social virtual reality (VR) program that allows players to interact in user-created worlds.
