Volleyball opens OAC/HCAC Challenge with victories over Bluffton and Transylvania (Ky.)

The Ohio Northern women's volleyball team opened up the OAC/HCAC Challenge with a striaght sets victory over Bluffton and a thrilling five set win over Transylvania (Ky.) on Friday.

The Polar Bears are now 14-3 overall.

Bluffton falls to 6-8 while Transy is now 5-10.

ONU got some revenge on the Beavers after losing to them a few weeks ago. Northern won by a score of 25-19, 25-18, 25-18.

Against Transy, the Polar Bears won 21-25, 25-23, 25-11, 19-25, 15-9.

Senior Ellen Grenert led the way for Northern with 14 kills.

Junior Kristen Davidson and freshman Ellie Gillespie added 12 kills apiece.

Village Voice: Leaf pick up scheduled for late October

Leaf season will soon be upon us

As a service to the residents, the Village of Ada will once again be picking up leafs that have been raked by residents. More details will be forthcoming in future issues of the Village Voice.

For now, the village wants to let you know that the annual leaf pick up flyers will once again be mailed with the September water bills. Those bills are scheduled to be mailed by Sept 28.

The first day for leaf pick up is scheduled for Oct. 29, weather permitting. Flyers will also be available on our website and in the Village Water Office.

Ada Kiwanis members learn about Sorotomist International

President Harold Friesner called his 46th and final meeting (Sept. 18th) of the 2011–2012 Kiwanis Year to order at 12:01 p.m.

The Invocation was given by Jon Umphress.

The following guests were introduced: Karen Kier, Melissa Taylor Austin, Allie Puntel and Katie Lorson.  Allie and Katie are members of ONU Circle K.

The birthday of member Charles Van Dyne, (September 19th was noted.

Ken Reid to take part in national symposium

 

Ken Reid, director of engineering education at Ohio Northern University, is one of 72 of the nation’s most innovative, young engineering educators selected to take part in the National Academy of Engineering’s (NAE) fourth Frontiers of Engineering Education (FOEE) symposium to be held in Irvine, Calif., from Oct. 14-17.

The Inn at ONU host to ‘Energy Economics’ seminar

The Ohio Northern University T.J. Smull College of Engineering will host a seminar, “Energy Economics – Keeping the Lights On,” at The Inn on the campus of ONU on Friday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 p.m.

Ohio Northern University named Military Friendly School

For the third consecutive year, Ohio Northern University has been named a Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs magazine. This distinction recognizes Ohio Northern for ranking in the top 15 percent among all universities and trades schools nationwide in welcoming military and veteran students. Schools and universities on the Military Friendly Schools list encourage policies, efforts and results used to recruit and retain military and veteran students.
