Artifact hunter hosted by Ada Historical Society on March 4

Like many other community groups, the Ada Historical Society (AHS) is on the rebound following something of a COVID drought in terms of activities and membership.

The AHS is hosting Brandon Place, an amateur artifact collector and history enthusiast, for a presentation at the historic Ada Train Depot,  at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday March 4. The free event is open to the public.

2023 United Way annual meeting invitation

KENTON–The United Way of Hardin County will hold its 2023 Annual Meeting from 7-8:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 16 at the Kenton Armory, 128 N Main St.

Organizers note, “At this year’s annual meeting, we will highlight new board members, thank our outgoing board members, present annual campaign awards, and have the Bonnie McBride Memorial Pie Auction. 

“We will also have a light breakfast of donuts, yogurt, casseroles and various drinks. We will offer a 50/50 raffle, and basket raffles. Tickets can be purchased by cash or check at the door.”

The annual meeting will also feature a short business meeting to review the organization’s financials, formally vote on the new Board of Directors members and take a look at where the United Way is heading.

The event is free.

Hardin Leadership registration ends March 1

Been thinking about joining the thirtieth annual Hardin Leadership class? March 1 is the registration deadline. Find the registration form HERE.

The program is designed for the development of informed and effective community leaders. Nine monthly sessions will focus on the knowledge/skills required by today's community leader, such as public speaking, conflict management, and marketing.

This year’s program will be offered in morning sessions, March through November. A tuition fee of $350.00 per person covers the expenses of the program.

D. Eloise Tighe was 99

D. Eloise Tighe, age 99, of Ada, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at 11:50 p.m. at Vancrest of Ada.

She was born on November 7, 1923, in Hardin County, Ohio to the late C. Clay and Marie (Howard) Sieg. On October 14, 1944, Eloise married Frank Tighe and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2003.

Tornado watch issued on February 27

A tornado watch has been issued for parts of Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio until 6:00 PM EST on Monday, February 27.
