Suter's corn maze, cider press and hayride to the pumpkin patch now open

Suter's Corn Maze, cider press and hayride to the pumpkin patch are open in October, according to Jerry Suter. Suter's is located at 8250 Road R, Pandora.

The corn maze and hayrides to the pumpkin patch are now open Saturdays and Sundays until Oct. 27.

Pick up Krispy Kreme doughtnuts Oct. 4

Ada Music Boosters had a successful Krispy Kreme doughnuts sale, according to Cliff Maier, booster president.

Doughnuts may be picked up during the Ada homecoming football game on Friday, Oct. 4, (admission to the game is not required for pickup).

Ohio Northern to present Kremlin Chamber Orchestra

Ohio Northern University’s Department of Music presents the Kremlin Chamber Orchestra on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 8 p.m.

The concert will take place in the Snyder Recital Hall in Presser Hall and is free and open to the public.

Founded in 1991, the orchestra, comprised of some of Russia’s finest young string players, has carved a niche for itself under the creative baton of its founder and music director Misha Rachlevsky.

Nearly half of the more than 1,600 concerts the orchestra has performed to date have taken place in Moscow; the rest were played on tours in 24 countries in Europe, North and South America, and the Far East.

Bingo every Thursday in October

Ada Bingo plays on Thursdays at the Alumni N-men’s Building in downtown Ada.

Doors open at 5:30; Bingo begins at 6:55. Ada Bingo uses new, radio-controlled electronic machines, as well as, traditional paper packages.

Proceeds from Ada Bingo benefits the Ada Lion's Club, Ada Music Boosters and the Ada-Liberty Volunteer Fire Department

Sadie Mae Lyons was former owner of Lyons Antiques in Ada

Sadie Mae Lyons, age 80 died Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 6:29 p.m. at Lima Manor, Lima, Ohio.

She was born December 13, 1932 in DeGraff, Ohio to Jesse and Marie (Jones) Conner and they preceded her in death. On September 9, 1968 she married Frank T. Lyons and he died February 17, 2009.

Sadie was a homemaker and had previously been a foster mother for many years, helping many children. She previously owned an antique store in Ada called Lyon's Antiques with her husband Frank.

Apollo Career Center hosts northwest region school board conference

Apollo Career Center will host the Ohio School Boards Association Northwest Region Fall Conference Thursday, Oct. 3, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Apollo Career Center will be recognized for Community Service for the Big Brother’s Big Sisters Bowl-a-thon fundraiser organized by instructor Toby Prinsen and Skills USA officers.
Apollo graduate Jeff Horner will be honored with a Humanitarian award for sharing his prom king title with Alex Hunter.

Apollo Administrative and Medical Office Technology senior Dylan Green will also recognized for humanitarianism for his community service to Lima Memorial Hospital and his school and community.
