Jalapeno's chicken tortilla voted Buy Ada First soup-off winner

Over 125 Halloween party-goers enjoyed the best soup in Ada on Monday during the first-ever Buy Ada First soup cookoff.

Jalapenos were voted the favorite of four soups, in a close voting, Jalapeno's winning entry was chicken tortilla soup. Other soup competitors were chili soup from Ada Express Mart, Italian wedding soup from Little Mexico and curried squash soup from Sodexo.

Kaleigh Heitmeyer was the winner of the Pumpkins on Main hunt. Her entry was chosen from all the participants in the contest. She won a gift basket of prizes.

Ada youngsters had a dry run for Halloween on Monday. The Kiwanis Club Halloween parade brought out funny, scary and everything inbetween. Watch for the list of winners coming to The Icon. Trick-or-treat night in Ada is Thursday. Click for a parade video.

Monday night in downtown Ada: Halloween parade, soup-off, pumpkin hunt

The Ada Kiwanis Halloween parade is Monday. And there's lots more Halloween-related events downtown. Here's what's happening, when: 

Parade registration takes place behind the Municipal Building on Buckeye Street. Registration begins at 5:15 p.m. and the parade at 6 p.m.

Costume categories are:
• Prettiest
• Scariest
• Most original

Costume judging by age groups follow:
• Preschool and kindergarten
• First and second grades
• Third and fourth grades
• Fifth and sixth grades
• Groups – any age and pets
• Adults (most original only)
• Ada band

Seth Burkholder wins Icon football contest Week 9

The winner of Week 9 of the Icon Football Contest is Seth Burkholder. Seth and Nancy Armour correctly picked 13 games this week.  Neither picked the correct point spread in either tie-breaker (though Seth was closest) and Seth submit his entry first. 

Wow! What a finish! How about those 'Dogs? NWC co-champs

The Ada Bulldogs rolled into Stadium Park Friday night and laid claim to a share of the Northwest Conference title by defeating the previously unbeaten Delphos Jefferson Wildcats 25-20. The 'Dogs took the lead with only 45 ticks left on the clock, then survived a furious Wildcat rally to preserve the win. The victory lifts Ada's record to 7-2 overall and 6-1 in the Northwest Conference.
