Mulch sale on Saturdays

The Ada Lions Club mulch sale continues on Saturdays through the month of May. Call 419-634-5626 to place a delivery order. However, you don't need to call to pickup mulch at Bass Trucking on SR 81. Prices this year are $40 per scoop for Brown or Black Velvet Mulch, $20 delivery to an Ada Address, and $30 delivery to surrounding areas.

Janet B. Hunnaman worked for Rudolph Foods

Janet B. Hunnaman, age 88, of Harrod, Ohio, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 12:14 a.m. at her residence in Harrod, surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 15, 1934, in Harrod, Ohio to the late William and Katherine (Beall) Markley. On July 21, 1951, Janet married Armon R. Hunnaman and he preceded her in death in August of 1988.   

Janet is survived by her two sons: Bill Hunnaman of Harrod, and Steve Hunnaman of Maysville; five grandchildren: Jessica, Jason, Brittany, Crystal and Grant Hunnaman; nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. 

Unclaimed bicycles to be auctioned off by Ada Police Dept.

The Ada Police Department has announced that it has approximately 36 unclaimed bicycles that will be auctioned off unless they are claimed by May 16.

If you would like to file a claim, please contact the APD office and provide a description of the bicycle.

Ada-Liberty EMS seeks EMT candidates

From the Ada-Liberty Joint Ambulance Board, 530 N Gilbert St, Ada:

We are looking for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to join our staff.

We are a 911 Agency only and respond to both municipal and rural areas involving Hardin and Hancock counties. Within these areas we have industry, two urgent care facilities and a college university, rural and state highways including US 30.

Bulldog softball knocked out by St. Henry

St. Henry scored 10 first-inning runs and rolled to a 17-0 win over host Ada in the Div. IV softball sectional finals on a warm and sunny Thursday evening.

The third-seeded Bulldogs fell to 16-7 with the season-ending defeat. Fifth-seeded SH hit four home runs and improved to 13-12 after the run-rule victory.

The slugging Redskin girls knocked out 21 hits, 11 of them for extra bases.

SH started the game with a sun-aided double and a home run by Lauren Thieman to provide an early 2-0 lead.

Redskin pitcher Carlee Rethman and third sacker Leah Lefeld followed with back-to-back doubles. Jalynn Everman then unloaded a homer, followed by a shot from catcher Kennedy Wendel.

Bulldog Jameson advances to tennis sectional semis and districts

Seven Ada High School tennis players competed at the Div. II sectionals in Lima on the courts of UNOH Thursday, May 11.

Bulldog senior Brendan Jameson won two matches by identical 6-1, 6-0 scores to make it to Saturday’s sectional semifinals.

Seeded second, he got a first round bye in the 30-player singles flight, and then rolled to the semis.
