OhioMeansJobs Hardin County open house June 14

OhioMeansJobs Hardin County will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, June 14, at 175 W. Franklin St., Suite 150, Kenton.

The community is invited to tour the newly-remodeled center, learn more about our services and training programs, and meet staff and partners. 

Light refreshments will be provided. The Center is now open with no restrictions, Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. to 4:30 .m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

OhioMeansJobs Hardin County center offers a variety of services to both job seekers of all ages and employers. All basic services are no cost to the customer. Some services may require eligibility determination. 

The Inn at ONU presents Stars and Stripes event

The Inn at ONU, 401 W. College Ave., Ada,  presents several events during its “Stars and Stripes,” long Fourth of July weekend.

Special events follow:
• Thursday, July 1 – Canvas and cocktails
• Friday, July 2 – Patriotic pops concert/boxed meals
• Saturday, July 3 – Beer bistro
• From July 1 to July 4 – The Inn offers a special nightly rate

Despite two days registering 33 degree temps

It was the merry month of May

Despite two days registering 33 degree temperatures it was the merry month of May, weather-wise, according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

The 33-degree days occurred on May 1 and May 10. The month’s high temperature was 89 in May 25.

May’s precipitation was 3.99 inches and the normal average May precipitation is 4.01 inches.

May’s average temperature was 59.4 degrees and the normal average May temperature is 60.5 degrees.

Concerning covid-19 related heath orders

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced that Ohio Department of Health Director Stephanie McCloud signed an order rescinding the following COVID-19-related health orders:

• The Director’s Order to Limit Access to Ohio’s Jails and Detention Facilities.

• The Director’s Order to Release Protected Health Information to Ohio’s First Responders.

• The Director’s Order Requiring the Use of Facial Coverings in Child Education Settings.

• The Director’s Order for Retail and Business Compliance for Facial Coverings through the State of Ohio.

• The Second Amended Director’s Order on Adult Day Support Services and Vocational Habilitation Services.

Ada Memorial Day observation on Monday

Roger L. Friend, American Legion Department of Ohio commander, is the guest speaker of the Monday, May 31, Ada Memorial Day service, according to Matt Crawford, commander of the Ada American Legion.

The ceremony is at Woodlawn Cemetery at 1 p.m. on May 31. It is held in cooperation between the Ada American Legion and Ada Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In case or rain, the service will take place at the Ada VFW Post 9381, north of Ada.

Friend was appointed commander of the American Legion Department of Ohio in 2019.

As department commander of the largest veteran’s organization statewide, Friend is the lead ambassador of over 540 post and 90,000 members.
