February's weather was memorable because is it past us

A cold  February is in the weather book. Here’s some of the month’s memorable moments, according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

This February had 24 days with the low daily temperatures below freezing, and 12 days with the high temperature at freezing or below.

February’s high reading was 59 degrees on the 7th. The low was 3 degrees on the 1st.

• Average February 2019 temperature 30.6 degrees
• Normal average February temperature 28.6 degrees
• February 2019 precipitation 3.38 inches rain; 8.6 inches snow
• Normal average February precipitation 2.03 inches rain

Ada chamber after hours event March 20

Mix and mingle at The Inn at ONU

Ada Area Chamber of Commerce invites Icon viewers to a chamber "mix and mingle" later this month, according to Deb Curlis, chamber director.

The after-hours free event is from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, at The Inn at ONU.

There will be door prizes and refreshments in this "come and go as you please" event. Persons wanting additional information may contact Curlis at [email protected] or by calling 419-788-9459.

 

Ada Senior Citizens meet twice in March

The Ada Senior Citizens will meet Wednesday, March 13, at 12:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Community Health Professionals.  Kathy Jo Dove will present a program, “CBD Oil and Its Uses.”  

Those who have heard Kathy said they learned a lot about how to deal with challenges we face as our bodies are aging. 

President Cloe Cole will conduct the business meeting.  Euchre and other card and board games will follow.  Refreshments will be furnished by Judy Magee.  

School cancellations - what next? Flu season

There has been a steady increase in illnesses and absences among the students of Ada Schools.

It's flu season. Ada schools provided the following guidelines for parents and caregivers concerning this airborne virus:

There has been a steady increase in illnesses and absences among the students of Ada Schools.

Respiratory symptoms of coughing, chest congestion, sore throat, runny nose and sneezing are among our students as well as the flu-like symptoms of fever, chills, headache and nausea.

The spread of these airborne viruses can be controlled with prompt diagnosis and effective preventative measures. 

Vendors with non-commercial art invited to May 11 fest'

Applications now being accepted

Vendors with non-commercial arts and crafts are invited to register for the 48th annual Bluffton Arts and Crafts Festival on Saturday, May 11. The 9 a.m.-3 p.m. street-festival style show is held on Bluffton’s charming Main Street and includes attractions for the whole family, including food, live music, and children’s activities.

Elementary spring picture day now March 25

Spring picture day at the Ada Elementary is rescheduled due to the several school day cancellations in February.

The rescheduled date is Monday, March 25.
