College Credit Plus meeting on Feb. 17

Ada High School will host a College Credit Plus meeting at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 17, via a Zoom link for parents and students attending Ada Jr/Sr High School. 

Students and parents are invited to attend the meeting to learn about the College Credit Plus program mandated by House Bill 487. 

The law allows high school students to enroll in college courses while enrolled in high school, if the student meets eligibility requirements set by the college or university. 

ARC/PLC Farm Bill decision virtual workshop Feb. 11

The 2018 Farm Bill reauthorized the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) safety net programs that were in the 2014 Farm Bill.

Producers must enroll in ARC/PLC for the 2021 crop year through their local Farm Service Agency office. Producers can amend the program elections they made for the 2019 and 2020 crop years for the 2021 crop year.

The signup period for the 2021 crop year is open now, and the deadline to enroll and make amendments to program elections is March 15, 2021.

Ada teachers will receive first vaccination on Feb. 19

School announces a two-hour delay for students on the 19th

Ada schools tentatively scheduled a two-hour delay for students on Friday, Feb. 19. The school will confirm this delay earlier in the week of the 19th.

"The purpose for this delay is to allow our staff to receive the first dose of their Covid-19 vaccines," Meri Skilliter, superintendent said.

Her entire announcement is on the school website.

"The governor’s office released a list of schools who should be able to get vaccines each week, with a goal of all educators in the 1B group to have their first shots by March 1," she said.  

The state also assigns approved providers to work with schools to vaccinate its employees.

Hardin chamber, business alliance annual meeting will be virtual

Traditionally held in McIntosh Center on the ONU campus, but not this year

This year’s Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance annual meeting, traditionally held on the ONU campus, will be virtual.

“The Alliance annual meeting and awards celebration has traditionally been one of the largest attended events for our membership,” according to an announcement on the alliance’s weekly email news sheet.

The announcement continues:
“In 2020, we were just able to execute this event prior to COVID-19, but in 2021, this event is going to look a little bit different.

Ada school goes remote today

Following a 2-hour delay announcement last night (Thursday, Feb. 4), Ada schools announced this morning at 7:48 a.m. that school is closed today (Friday, Feb. 5) and that it is instead a remote learning day.
