Ada resident charged with two counts aggravated robbery

After a week-end long investigation the Ada Police Department charged Dekari Tyre Ese Powell of Ada and Mansfield with two counts of Aggravated Robbery, felonies of the 1st degree, for his part in the armed robbery of three persons in Ada on Thursday, Jan 3, according to Michael Harnishfeger, Ada police chief.

According to reports, three separate individuals known to Powell were approached separately and robbed at gun point of cash, electronics and drugs. 

Keller-Clark receives commendation

Ada Police Chief Michael Harnishfeger presents a certificate of commendation to Ptl. Penny Keller-Clark at Vancrest on Wednesday. She has organized monthly meeting for residents of the retirement home for several years to inform and educate them about safety and security and sometimes entertain them with programs. 

Chief Harnishfeger said, “She is the go-to person in the department to perform a community engagement program whether it’s fingerprinting youth, speaking to elementary children, or conducting a citizen’s police academy.”

 

K9s and handlers meet together

K9s and their handlers from four law enforcement agencies were at the Ada Park Office on Thursday for training. The men get together twice a month for the dogs to refresh their training, practice, and let the dogs get to know one another so that if the dogs work together on a job they are familiar with each other. 

Sheriff “Shop with a Cop” seeks donations

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office will sponsor its annual "Shop with a Cop" program of Saturday , Dec. 15. The event allows children from Hardin County to spend a fun-filled day with Hardin County law enforcement and volunteers. Donations are now being accepted at the Sheriff’s Office at 1025 S. Main St. In Kenton 43326.

Each child will be provided a gift card to purchase Christmas gifts for their families at Wal-Mart. The gift cards are purchased through donations from individuals, businesses, and organizations.

Suspicious package investigated at courthouse annex

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of a county office receiving a suspicious package. At 11:30 a.m. this morning, Sheriff’s Office received a report from Hardin County Job and Family Services that they had received a suspicious package through the US mail service 

 

Investigators arrived on scene along with members from the Kenton Fire Department. It was determined that the building would be evacuated for the safety of the employees and public until the package and area could be rendered safe. 

 

Coffee with a Cop set for Tuesday

 

Officers of the Ada Police Department will be on hand for Coffee with a Cop on Tuesday. They will be at McDonald’s from 8-10 a.m. on Oct. 16 to give community members an opportunity to ask questions and voice concerns as they work to make Ada a S.A.F.E.R. place to live. And, the coffee is free.
