Meet "Zeke" the Icon's dog of the week

This is "Zeke." He is a 12 week old Plott Hound that was found starving. He spent 3 days at the vet with IV's and has gained a couple of pounds.He weighs 11 pounds but will be a larger dog. He is very playful and needs a home that will give him time to heal... (he is a special needs right now until he has gained back his weight.)

To give a dog a forever home, contact the Hardin County dog shelter. It is located at 49 Jones Road on the west side of Kenton.

Ada Kiwanis members hear the West Ohio Food Bank story

Linda Hamilton, executive director of the West Ohio Food Bank, spoke to Ada Kiwanis members during the June 14 meeting.

She said that the mission of West Ohio Food Bank is:  “Everyone should have access to healthy, nutritious food.  Together with our partners, we provide nutritious food to those in need."

Lots of fun at the Ada park

It's family fun time at Ada War Memorial Park from noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. That's when ReStore provides a free meal and activities all summer long. All are welcome. (Monty Siekerman photo)

Ada American Legion selects 5 students for Boys-Girls State

Ada students are Ashley Breidenbach and Jacob Park.

Five Hardin County seniors are delegates in their respective Buckeye Boys and Girls State programs this week. The students were selected by Ada American Legion Post 185.

Ashley Breidenbach, Ada High School, is a Girls State delegate.

She is the daughter of Travis and Tracy Breidenbach. Ashley is active in cheerleading, Varsity Singers, Drama Club, FFA, Student Council, and was Junior Class president. 

Orange shirt day in the Ada park - It's a HOBY day

Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar (HOBY) returned to Ad last week.

HOBY is a four-day leadership seminar for over 200 high school sophomores from northern and western Ohio held June 9-12 at Ohio Northern University, according to Katie Ferren, co-director of Community Service.

The HOBY program inspires students to recognize their leadership talents and apply them in becoming effective, ethical leaders in their homes, schools, workplaces and communities.

Lunch is over, let's go play

"OK, lunch is over, let's go play," Isaac Juergens, 3 1/2, seems to be saying.

He and his family recently enjoyed a picnic in the park sponsored by ReStore. The community center offers a free meal and fun at a shelter house at War Memorial Park from noon-1 p.m., Monday-Friday. (Monty Siekerman photo)
