Rev. Gregory V. Palmer, resident bishop of the West Ohio Conference, will be the preacher at the Ada First United Methodist Church on Palm Sunday, March 29. The service begins at 10 a.m. in the newly-built church on North Main.

Bishop Palmer leads a conference of 182,000 members in 1,037 churches. He became bishop in Ohio in September of 2012. He received degrees from George Washington University and Duke Divinity School. (Monty Siekerman)

Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law presents Lawrence Baum, professor emeritus of political science at Ohio State University, as part of the Dean’s Lecture Series in the Celebrezze Moot Court Room at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 30.

The title of Baum’s presentation is “Supreme Court Justices as Human Decision-Makers.” The event is free and open to the public.

The Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law Jessup team advanced to the semifinals of the qualifying rounds of the 2015 Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition but fell short of its goal of qualifying for the international rounds.

The Ohio Northern University Department of History, Politics and Justice presents a lecture on “Slavery in the Heart of Abolitionist Country: Rethinking the History of Slavery in New England” by Jared Hardesty in the Dicke Forum in the Dicke Building on Thursday, March 26, at 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Annetta Shirk, director of the Hardin County Chamber and chamber tourism, provided an update to Ada chamber members on Hardin County activities on March 18. Meanwhile, the Ada chamber has lots of events planned this spring. Watch the Icon for those announcements.
