Ada's latest news

Looks like it's playhouse time at Ready, Set, Grow Preschool in Ada. When the Icon stopped by recently there were several activities taking place and the playhouse was among the popular spots.

During the trip, DiBiasio spoke with faculty from several Indian educational institutions, including Banaras Hindu University, one of the largest residential universities in Asia.

Part of Ohio Northern University’s vision for its future is to branch out globally and introduce new parts of the world to opportunities at ONU. On the other side of the world, ONU has recently planted some seeds for the future in Varanasi, India.

In January, ONU President Dan DiBiasio and First Lady Chris Burns-DiBiasio accompanied David Berger, mayor of Lima, Ohio, on a trip to Varanasi, India, to begin cultivating a potential new sister-city relationship between Lima and Varanasi.

Both the DiBiasios and James and Karen Harder, Bluffton University, took Berger up on an invitation to attend as educational counterparts for the Lima area.

Pianist Polina Bespalko will present a concert at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 31 in the Presser Hall. Bespalko will perform pieces from Bach, Liszt, Schubert and Tchaikovsky. The concert is free and open to the public. The concert was originally scheduled for March 13 but was postponed due to weather.

 

Bespalko began her performance career at the age of eight. Throughout her years at the Moscow Central Music school she appeared regularly in the most prestigious venues in Russia. Bespalko made her American debut in 1998 as an honored member of the Russian-U.S. Cultural Music Exchange.

The first meeting for the Jumbo Jr. Farmers was held Monday, March 27th at the McDonald Township Hall.  The meeting was started by the 4-H Pledge being led by Asher Bridenstine and the Pledge of Allegiance which was led by Claire Ketcham.  At the meeting the group elected officers who are; President, Noah Ketcham, Vice President, Katherine Moore, Secretary, Helen Taylor, Treasure, Claire Ketcham, Reporter, Drew Hoppe.  We also elected Health, Environmental, Safety and Recreational officers who are as follows, Brenna Dyer, Quinn Dyer, Drew Stevens, Kevin Smith, Ruth Anne Osborn and Jeffery Bushong.   

 

The motto of Brother2Brother is "Good men today, better men tomorrow." The ONU organization is a sub-branch of the Student African-American Brotherhood on campus. The group strives to increase the retention rate among students of color and non-students of color by making sure each member has a support system away from home. The group also prides itself on being an advocate in the community.
