Ada will celebrate Arbor Day with many activities at the Railroad Park and Depot from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday.

Festivities begin with Mayor Dave Retterer proclaiming Saturday as Arbor Day, followed by the planting of a redbud tree donated by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce.
One of the cool things about being in the third grade at Ada Elementary School is the annual Arbor Day Celebration.
Each spring, the volunteers on the Ada Tree Commission visit the third graders to talk about trees.
The commissioners share stories about trees, wildlife and how to plant the bare root tree each student receives from the Tree Commission. Tree Commissioners also talk to the students about it means to be a Tree City USA, as Ada has been named for 36 years, and what it means for Ohio Northern University to be a Tree Campus USA, as ONU has been named for seven years.
The 2016-17 Ohio Northern women's basketball team etched its name into the record books. After a remarkable 30-1 season, it will be remembered as the greatest team in Ohio Northern women's basketball history.
Under 16-year head coach Michele Durand, the Polar Bears completed a perfect 25-0 regular season for the first time in school history.
They won the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season Title for the third consecutive year, finishing with a record of 18-0.

The ONU Indian Student Association held a springtime Holi Festival on the Tundra on Sunday afternoon. It's a Festival of Colors.
Holi is a Hindu festival that signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, and the end of winter. During the festival, participants play, chase, and color each other with dry powder.
It is a time for people to play, laugh, and enjoy each other's company. Indian Student Association is an organization that promotes education and participation in the Indian culture.
