Ada teacher and long-time volleyball coach, Melissa Gossard, will be inducted with the 2020 class of the Hardin County Sports Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony is at Upper Scioto Valley High School on Saturday, May 9.
She is a 1991 Hardin Northern HS graduate who was an all-Ohioan in volleyball and basketball. She finished her basketball career with 1,127 points scored.
Upon having a four-year career at Ashland University, she returned to Hardin County where she coached for 21 seasons. She is the winningest coach in Ada High School history.

Ada's next American Red Cross blood drive takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday, March 23, at Community Health Professionals, according to Mary Hackworth.

The United Way of Hardin County invites Icon viewers to provide items for its radio day auction held Saturday, March 28, according to Phyllis Griffith.
“Residents and businesses are invited to donate items, which can include products, gift baskets, services, gift certificates, to be auctioned on March 28,” said Phyllis.

Carol attended Ada school and graduated from Hardin Northern. A farm girl, she grew up on a farm where there were cows, pigs and chickens. An avid baseball fan, she played that sport and basketball in high school.
She and her husband, Dale, a farmer, were married in 1957, after high school graduation. They had two children. Carol worked for a time as a secretary at Ohio Northern University and later in Blossom Gallery, floral shop, Kenton.
Ada awoke to one of the rare true snowfalls of the season this morning. It first delayed and then closed area schools.
