Several persons, organizations and businesses with Ada and Ohio Northern University connections were recognized at the 14th annual dinner meeting and award presentation of the Hardin Chamber and Business Alliance held on the ONU campus. The list of awardees follows:
• Business of the year Wilson Sporting Goods - Ada
For 165 years, Wilson Football has made Hardin County its home. Each year, over 700,000 footballs are handmade in Ada by Wilson’s talented workforce.
Her driver’s license lists Feb. 29 as her date of birth, but next year when she has it renewed, she’ll need to do it on March 1. (The DMV told her that she wouldn’t have been born yet on Feb. 28).

Nina Buchan is a sophomore psychology major at Ohio Northern University. She lives on campus, attends classes by herself and manages to keep up with her studies.
Not unusual, except that according to official records, Nina is just 5 years old.
As far as this publication can determine, Buchan is the only ONU student and, possibly the only Ada resident, with a Feb. 29 birthday.
As we look forward to this extra Leap Year day on Saturday, Buchan expects a rather quiet birthday celebration. A little more hoopla may be in order when you consider that she has a birthday just once every four years!
Ada Public Library invites patrons to take the Dr. Seuss Read Challenge during March. The challenge begins as the library celebrates the famous author's birthday on Monday, March 2.
Visit the library, complete a Dr. Seuss activity sheet and, who knows what prizes you may win.
An Ada location is one of four in Hardin County offering preschool screening for the 2020-21 school year.
Liberty Village Preschool, 725 W. North Ave., will offer screening on Wednesday, March 4. The screening is through the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center.
Screening is for children up and including 5 years old. Call Midwest Regional ESC to schedule an appointment at 937-599-5195, extension 3020 or email Penny Carrig at [email protected].
These screenings help fill classrooms at Little River (USV), Victory Garden (Ridgemont), Northern Lights (Hardin Northern) and Liberty Village (Ada).
