ONU’s Carhart Symposium to focus on religious tradition and the rule of law

Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law will present the 2013 Carhart Symposium on Friday, April 12, at 11 a.m. in the Small Moot Court Room. Titled “Law and Religion in Conflict: Problems for Ethical Lawyering,” the program will feature a presentation by Jon Eddy, professor of law and director of the Asian Law Center at the University of Washington’s School of Law, detailing his work training lawyers in Afghanistan

This event is open to the public.

Ohio Northern University to present ‘Nine’

Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts will present “Nine” from April 18 to 20 at 7:30 p.m. In addition, there will be matinee shows on Saturday, April 20, and Sunday, April 21, at 2 p.m.

Based on Federico Fellini’s film “8 1/2,” this musical delighted Broadway theatregoers in a hit revival in 2003. “Nine” is the story of a celebrated Italian film director, Guido Contini, who has lost his creative inspiration under the looming deadline for his latest film.

Ohio Northern University professors author personalized medicine textbook

Three members of the Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy, along with a member of the Purdue University faculty, have collaborated to author a textbook titled “Pharmacogenetics, Kinetics, and Dynamics for Personalized Medicine.”

Ohio Northern’s David F. Kisor, professor of pharmacokinetics, Jon E. Sprague, dean and professor of pharmacology, Jeffrey N. Talbot, associate professor of pharmacology, and Michael D. Kane, associate professor of bioinformatics and genomics at Purdue, contributed to the textbook, which will be used by pharmacy students and pharmacists.

ONU and Walmart establish endowed leadership scholarship

Ohio Northern University has established the Walmart and Sam’s Club Endowed Leadership Scholarship Fund for the Rudolph H. Raabe College of Pharmacy.

The scholarship will be awarded to academically eligible ONU pharmacy students entering their fourth, fifth or sixth year of pharmacy studies who have demonstrated leadership in pharmacy or to an ONU student organization and have shown interest in community pharmacy.

ONU receives NACDS Foundation grant to conduct health fairs

The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy was awarded a grant from the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation in conjunction with the Million Hearts initiative to conduct area health fairs in March as part of the “Heart to Heart Community Health Fairs” campaign.

The grant, in the amount of $1,000, provided funding for ONU pharmacy students to carry out health fairs in Hardin and Allen counties. Health Fairs took place at the ReStore in Ada, Ohio, on March 16 and at Rays Market on South Cable Road in Lima, Ohio, on March 23.

ONU presents reading by author Simone Muench

The Ohio Northern University Department of English presents author Simone Muench in the Pettit College of Law Moot Court room on Thursday, April 4, at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Muench was raised in Louisiana and Arkansas and now lives in Chicago. She is the author of “The Air Lost in Breathing” (Marianne Moore Prize for Poetry), “Lampblack & Ash” (Kathryn A. Morton Prize for Poetry), “Orange Crush,” and “Disappearing Address,” co-written with Philip Jenks.
