Dr. North elected VP of Board

Dr. Christine North, associate professor of communication arts, was elected vice president of the Patient Advocate Certification Board (PACB).The PACB is creating the first national exam to certify patient advocates. The first exam will occur in March 2018. PACB Board members come from a variety of professional backgrounds and have one thing in common – a passion for helping patients. It is their job to be sure that those advocates who assist patients professionally on their journey through the health care system bring a variety of important and proven skills to the relationship.

ONU band to play at Browns game

The ONU Marching Band, the “Star of Northwest Ohio,” will close its season with a halftime performance at the Cleveland Browns football game on Sunday, Dec. 17.  The marching band is under the direction of Dr. Charles Bates.
 

ONU benefactor dies

Celebration of Life services for Bob Kerscher, 69, of Hudson, Ohio, were held Monday and Tuesday in Hudson. He died Nov. 23 of prostate cancer. Two years ago, Ohio Northern dedicated Kerscher Stadium, the home of soccer and outdoor track and field. He and his wife, Barbara, also were instrumental in the creation of Klondike’s in McIntosh Center.
He graduated in business from ONU, is the recipient of an honorary degree, and served as a trustee for 14 years.

24-hour sing-a-long by Kappa Phi

Kappa Phi has held a  24-hour sing-a-thon prior to Christmas for nearly 40 years, and this year the money raised will go to a foundation that assists with research for Reflux Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), a painful disorder.

Theresa Meli of Middleburg Heights, a senior forensics major and a member of Kappa Phi has RSD and received the honor of being the Polar Bear at the beginning of the fundraiser.

ONU one of nation's most outstanding law schools

According to The Princeton Review

Ohio Northern University is one of the nation's most outstanding law schools, according to The Princeton Review.  The education services company includes the school in the 2018 release of its annual feature, "The Best 169 Law Schools” online at https://www.princetonreview.com/best-law-schools.

Wind and Symphony orchestras to perform Dec. 10.

Ohio Northern University’s Wind and Symphony orchestras will perform at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Freed Center. This program begins a year of celebration for the 90th anniversary of the ONU Department of Music. 

 

Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for ONU faculty and staff, $10 for seniors, and $5 for students. The Freed Center box office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Phone orders are accepted with American Express, MasterCard, VISA or Discover by calling 419-772-1900.
