ONU Symphony will perform Sunday

The ONU Symphony will perform at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Freed Center. Tickets will be available at the door.

In support of Black History Month, the Symphony will present William Grant Still's Symphony No. 1 (Afro-American Symphony). This piece is monumental, as Still was the first African-American to compose a symphony and an opera, as well as to conduct a leading American orchestra. Still incorporates blues and African-American styles, while melding jazz and traditional orchestral techniques.

Wind Orchestra to perform

The Ohio Northern University Wind Orchestra will present a concert, “The Life of the City” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 1 in the Freed Center.

Paris, New York, Prague, Rome, and Las Vegas are the inspirational cities for the compositions featured in this program. The ensemble will be under the direction of Dr. Thomas A. Hunt.  Composers include Eric Whitacre, David Holsinger, Luigi Zaninelli, Martin Ellerby, and Karel Husa.

“The Wolves” opens Thursday night at Freed Center

Ohio Northern will present five performances of "The Wolves," a play by Sarah Delappe, from Thursday, Feb.22, through Sunday, Feb. 25.
This new play features a girls' indoor soccer team and offers a window into the world of adolescent female relationships. Nine girl warriors fiercely grapple with one another over issues great and small in a series of scenes that occur during pre-game warm ups.
