Ohio Northern University will put active learning and community involvement into practice with the annual Ada Community Engagement (ACE) Day event from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 18. The program is designed to engage incoming students with their college home and provide opportunities for ONU’s first-year students to contribute to the village and surrounding communities.
The ONU chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, a music society for women, received the 2018 collegiate chapter achievement award at a national convention in Scottsdale, Ariz. Founded in 1903, there are more than 300 chapters of the society located at universities and conservatories.
The ONU chapter is only two years old. The local chapter was hailed for its best accomplishing the group’s national objectives.
Once again, Ohio Northern has been named one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate education, according to The Princeton Review.
The education services company features the university in the new 2019 edition of its college guide. Only about 15 percent of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges and two-year colleges make the cut.
According to the survey, “students are also drawn to ONU’s good financial aid and varsity sports, with one athlete noting that ONU ‘was my most affordable option of Division III schools where I could play soccer and receive a quality education.’
Ohio Northern has been lauded as the best in the state for preparing students for success in their careers by the career-guidance site Zippia.
According to Zippia’s rankings, ONU is first in Ohio and third in the nation with a placement rate of 95.5 percent. The site gauged employment rates for graduates a decade after graduation.
Ohio Northern offers a relevant educational experience that focuses on helping students develop the knowledge, professional proficiencies and analytical skills they need to succeed in a constantly changing job market.
Children’s auditions will be held for “The ONU Holiday Spectacular” at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9 at the Freed Center. Auditions will be held for singers and dancers ages 5 to 12.
Those auditioning may be asked to sing and should be ready to participate in a dance call (jazz and/or tap shoes). No prepared dance or vocal solos are needed.

Clark Hall is gone, having been demolished and hauled away in trucks during the past month, but a limited number of bricks were saved and are available at $50 each.
Clark served as a residence hall for many years. Those with fond memories of the place can keep a brick as a memento.
Proceeds from the sale of the bricks will benefit the Northern Fund which supports campus improvements, academic programs, student life, faculty research and financial aid.
Bricks can be purchased via online pre-pay. They will be available for pick up at the activities tent at Homecoming.
