Bulldog swimmers duel county rival

KENTON – The Ada High School swim team faced county rival Kenton in a meet Tuesday, January 28, at the Hardin County YMCA on Senior Night.

The Bulldog girls lost a close dual bout to the hosts, 81-63. The Ada boys fell to the Wildcats, 84-35. 

Kenton won the combined boys/girls meet, 165-98. Ridgemont also had a few individuals compete as the Gophers totaled 15 points.

“What a great senior night,” said third-year Ada head coach Ashley Robey. “Excellent turnout from the community in support of them and the team.

“We had a lot of great races,” she added. “On to sectionals.”

Do you have a favorite reptile?

Thanks to member Josh Deans, the Ada Rotary Club recently hosted Kat Krynak, Associate Professor of Biology and Asst Director of the Nature Areas at Ohio Northern University. Krynak talked about a favorite reptile and a joint project with the ODNR, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, the Columbus Zoo and the Ohio State University to study the snakes at Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area.

Louise E. Van Horn was a caregiver

Louise E. Van Horn, age 80, of Delphos, passed away at her home on January 27, 2025. 

She was born on July 31, 1944 in Upper Sandusky to the late Lawrence and Dortha (Reynolds) Foreman. On November 15, 1980 Louise married Wynn I. Van Horn and he survives in Delphos. 

Also surviving is her granddaughter, Brooklyn Van Horn; three sisters: Ethel Young, Judy Stepp and Dotty Corbet-Beach; and brother-in-law, William F. Van Horn, Jr.

Louise was preceded in death by her son, William “Ira” Van Horn; and six siblings: Ira Foreman, Betty Robinson, Grace Neufarth, Lawrene Weatherholtz, Thelma Koontz and Gladys McNeal. 

Hardin County Pork Banquet invitation for March 23

HARDIN COUNTY – The 2025 annual Hardin County Pork Banquet will be held on Sunday, March 23 at the Upper Scioto Valley School District auditorium. The banquet will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Reservations need to be made by March 14 by calling a director of the Hardin County Pork Producers or by calling the  OSU Extension office at 419-674-2297.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for ages 18 and under. Exhibitors receive a ticket. Tickets are paid for at the door.

The menu for the Pork Banquet will consist of several pork dishes. 

Vitality Health and Wellness comes to 123 E. Buckeye

Vitality Health and Wellness will be opening an Ada office location on February 1, 2025, for in-person consultations. Telehealth visits will still be available.

The new office is located at 123 E Buckeye Ave, Suite 5.

Pool pass early bird sale begins April 16

Are you ready to think spring or even summer? The Village of Ada has announced that the Municipal Pool opens on May 24, 2025, with an Early Bird Sale for pool passes starting on April 16.

The Early Bird Sale will be offered for two weeks, ending at 4:00 p.m. on April 30.
