Girls in Engineering, Math, and Science camp

Registration for ONU Camp GEMS (Girls in Engineering, Math and Science) is now open. This is the 22nd year for the camp, which is designed for girls entering the 7th or 8th grade this fall and will introduce them to careers in engineering, the sciences, math, pharmacy and technology.

The fee for the four-day camp is $325, which includes all meals, housing, instructional materials, recreational activities and a T-shirt. Registration is limited to 72 girls. For more details and a registration form go to ONU.edu.

Ohio Northern women's basketball remains undefeated

The No. 6-ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball team clinched at least a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season title with an 86-78 victory at Muskingum on Saturday at the Steele Center.

The Polar Bears stay undefeated on the season at 21-0 overall and improve to 14-0 in the OAC.

Northern also clinched the No. 1 seed (and the double-bye that comes with it) in the OAC Tournament. ONU has a 4-game lead over Wilmington (10-4) and Baldwin Wallace (10-4) with four games left in the regular season and holds the tiebreaker over both schools.

The Muskies fall to 10-11, 6-8.

Ohio Northern's men take second place at the Joe Banks Invitational

The Ohio Northern men's track and field team took second place Saturday afternoon as it competed in the annual Joe Banks Invitational at the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse.

Junior Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) posted a new meet record in the 800-meter run, finishing in 1:54.39 to lead Northern.

In the weight throw, senior Lucas Shumate(Wapakoneta/Spencerville) took first place with a toss of 57' 6.25".

ONU Men's basketball wins 9th straight game

Senior Devon Allen (Lima/Senior) scored four of his game-high 24 points in the final 28 seconds to lead the Ohio Northern men's basketball team to a 101-96 victory over Muskingum Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears (14-7 overall, 12-2 Ohio Athletic Conference) run their winning streak to nine games and remain in a first place tie in the league standings with No. 13-ranked Marietta.

ONU also clinches its first winning season since 2013-14 under first-year head coach Rich Bensman.

The Muskies fall to 12-9, 6-8.

 

Ohio Northern women's track and field team finished first at Joe Banks Invitational

The No. 16-ranked Ohio Northern women's track and field team finished first of 15 teams at the annual Joe Banks Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) led the Polar Bears in the meet as she set a new school record and ran the sixth fastest time in Div. III history in the 800-meter dash and finished second overall in 2:08.83 behind 2016 Div. II 800-meter run National Champion Carsyn Koch. 

"This was a nice meet to win," said head coach Jason Maus. "We had a lot of new girls meet some conference and All-Ohio marks and its nice to be able to do that at home. This team is starting to see some things come together."

Joe Banks Invitational at ONU

Indoor track and field athletes from 15 colleges and universities competed in the annual Joe Banks Invitational Saturday at the ONU Sports Center, drawing a large crowd seated in the bleachers and a full "infield" of competitors waiting for their event to be called.
