Nancy Kumiko Leonard worked for the Kenton Times and ONU

 Nancy Kumiko Leonard, age 92, of Ada, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022, at the Carriage Court of Washington Courthouse, 

She was born on April 1, 1930, in Kobe, Japan to Naoyuki Ikoma and Yukiko Kondo who preceded her in death. On June 1, 1951, Nancy married Ronald H. Leonard, who preceded her in death on October 8, 2017.

Nancy was a graduate of Keimei Women’s Institute (before WWII was the Palmore Women’s Institute). She worked in the 8th Army Headquarter Kobe Base, Japan where she met her husband, Ronald. She came to the United States in August 1952, later took the Citizenship course from the University of North Carolina Extension Division and became a U.S. citizen on September 17, 1959.  While her husband was stationed at the White Sands Missle Range in New Mexico, Nancy went to work as a coordinator to contractors after she received secret clearance from the 4th U.S. Army Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. After her husband’s retirement from military service, her family settled in Hardin County, Ohio. Nancy then worked as a typesetter for the Kenton Times for 17 years.  he then worked at Ohio Northern University, Ada in housekeeping, retiring after 17 years. Nancy attended the Church of Christ Disciples of Ada.

Carol Sue Perkins worked for Walmart Eastgate

Carol Sue Perkins, age 80, of Lima, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022, at the Carriage Court Assisted Living, Hilliard.

She was born on December 26, 1942, in Lima, Ohio to the late Lloyd L. and Cora Ruth (Kidd) Stoodt. On September 5, 1965, Carol married the late Wendell Perkins.  

Frank Dyer worked for Ford Motor Company

Frank Dyer, age 91, of Alger, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 7:14 a.m. at Vancrest of Ada.

He was born February 24, 1931, in Indiana to the late Rev. Seward and Mary (Hurt) Dyer.  On December 7, 1953, Frank married Stella Rowe and she preceded him in death on May 27, 2020. 

Frank retired from Ford Motor Company, Lima.  He was a member of the Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God, Alger.

Jimmy Ray Morrison was a welder at Kenton Structural

Jimmy Ray Morrison, age 66, of Alger, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022, at OhioHealth Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton.

He was born on August 11, 1956, to Kenton, Ohio to the late Harlin and Lola (Bailey) Morrison. On December 24, 1974, Jimmy married Mary Catherine Sietz, but later separated.  Long-time partner Cristina Smith survives at home.

Darrell D. Hunsicker served in the U.S. Air Force

Darrell D. Hunsicker, age 72, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 11:55 p.m., at the Dayton VA Medical Center.   

He was born on February 15, 1950 in McGuffey, Ohio to I. Harvey and Ruth (Crist) Hunsicker, Sr. who preceded him in death. 

Darrell retired as an administrator. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran who served from May 1969 to January 1988. He was a graduate of Upper Scioto Valley High School in 1968.

Survived by a brother, Lewis Hunsicker and a sister, Marsha (Robert) Sprang Neff.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

There will be no visitation or service.  It was his wish to be cremated.

Joseph K. Lamb built 20 homes in and around Ada

Joseph K. Lamb, age 92, of Harrod, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022, at the Lost Creek Care Center, Lima.

He was born on March 12, 1930, in Foraker, Ohio to the late James J. and Estella (Geider) Lamb. On May 22, 1948, Joseph married Mary B. Hill, she preceded him in death on October 7, 2009.

Joseph retired from Commercial Lovelace Motor Freight in Lima after working for 38 years. He also built twenty homes in and around Ada. He was a member of the St. Mark Lutheran Church of Ada. Joseph also was a member of the Colonial Hills Golfers Club, the Kenton Elks Lodge #157, and the Eagles Lodge #767 of St. Marys.
