It’s Sunday in Ada, Ohio. The typical church scene unfolds with gathering people and a sense of waiting for the Christmas celebrations to begin, waiting a bit longer for the adornments of poinsettias and candelabra, waiting for the greens and nativity set, and waiting for all the special touches that come once a year.

Have library fines? No problem...here's a simple solution

Feets for Fines. It's a pretty good deal.

This holiday season, pay off your Ada Public Library fines and help others at the same time.

Here's what happens when you donate shoes to the cause:
1 pair of NEW kid’s shoes** = $5 worth of fines
1 pair NEW gloves = $5 worth of fines
1 NEW hat or scarf = $5 worth of fines
1 pair of NEW kid’s socks = $1 worth of fines

*Not eligible for lost book fees
**No flip flops, please

All of the collected items will be donated to Helping Hands, a Hardin County charity that will give the shoes and socks to local children in need.

No, Virginia, there will be no comet for Christmas this year

Looks like it didn't make it. One million year old comet Ison apparently disintegrated on its trip around the sun on Nov. 28.

According to USA Today: Like Icarus, comet ISON appears to have flown too close to the sun and broken up in its corona.

Scientists had hoped that the comet from the farthest reaches of the solar system would be able to slingshot around the sun Thursday and emerge streaming a tail visible to the naked eye next month.

Can you name the community being described? (It may surprise you)

You know your town pretty well, right?

Allow the Icon to pose this question: “Can you name the community that fits the following description?”

Spoiler warning: There’s an Icon in Bluffton and Ada. This column posted on both Icons today. The answer is at the bottom.
