ONU sticks Alfred State in the meat grinder

he Ohio Northern football team opened its 2013 season with a convincing 55-0 victory over Alfred State (N.Y.) Saturday afternoon at Ada War Memorial Stadium.

The Polar Bears (1-0) got a punt return for a touchdown and two interception returns for scores in the first half and led 28-0 at halftime.

ONU receives grant for after-school enrichment program

 

Ohio Northern University has received a grant from the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) to develop an after-school enrichment program to improve the delivery of the plant biology and botany curriculum to seventh- and eighth-grade students in the Marysville Exempted School District.

The project, titled “Planting Seeds of Science: Roots, leaves and STEM in the after-school and summer enrichment program,” is under the direction of Linda Young, ONU professor of biological sciences, and Vicki Motz, visiting assistant professor of biological sciences and Union County Master Gardener.

Ohio Northern University receives grant to build mobile solar energy lab

 

The Ohio Northern University T.J. Smull College of Engineering has been awarded a Dominion Higher Education Partnership grant to develop and implement a mobile solar energy lab. Dominion Foundation is the charitable arm of Dominion Resources, Dominion East Ohio’s parent company.

Engineering students will design an experimental apparatus to demonstrate the operation of solar thermal and photovoltaic systems.  The finished product will be used in undergraduate engineering courses on thermodynamics and renewable energy as well as for high-school STEM outreach programs such as Camp GEMS and Explorers Post.

Public Library-ONU Career Center team up to help job seekers

"We are fortunate enough to have professional staff from Ohio Northern's Polar Career Center joining us for monthly discussions on career related topics, and also offering some one-on-one assistance," Amanda Bennett, Ada Public Library director told The Icon.
