When it rains it pours and when it snows it really snows.

Guy Verhoff, Icon weather observer, reports that the snowfall of Saturday, Dec. 14, was 6.3 inches.

Add one-half inch of snow on the 13th and 1.7 inches on the 16th and suddenly we’ve accumulated 8.5 inches – not counting snowfall on Dec. 17.

To add to the wintry conditions, the low temperature of the month reached minus 2 on Dec. 12.

Ada school geographic bee put on hold for now

Winter weather is playing havoc with lots of last-week-of-school programs. One of those events put on hold is the Ada School Geography Bee.

According to Suzanne Hardesty, gifted coordinator/intervention specialist for Ada Schools, the Bee was planned for Dec. 17, but, it was postponed.

Hardesty said, "The National Geographic Society sponsors this bee. Ada's winner takes a timed paper-pencil test and the winners of that test continue to the Ohio Geography Bee.

Medals go to the first, second, and third place studnets and are sponsored by Ada Academic Boosters.
