Have library fines? No problem...here's a simple solution

Feets for Fines. It's a pretty good deal.

This holiday season, pay off your Ada Public Library fines and help others at the same time.

Here's what happens when you donate shoes to the cause:
1 pair of NEW kid’s shoes** = $5 worth of fines
1 pair NEW gloves = $5 worth of fines
1 NEW hat or scarf = $5 worth of fines
1 pair of NEW kid’s socks = $1 worth of fines

*Not eligible for lost book fees
**No flip flops, please

All of the collected items will be donated to Helping Hands, a Hardin County charity that will give the shoes and socks to local children in need.

Laurie Laird inducted into Hardin County Agriculture Hall of Fame

Laurie Laird, owner of New Leaf garden center, Ada, was among six persons inducted into the Hardin County Agriculture Hall of Fame on Dec. 3. The ceremony took place during a Hall of Fame recognition banquet at St. John's United Church of Christ, Kenton.

Other inductees were Franklin Garmon,  Rex and Joan Sullinger and Bernard and Virginia Williams.

The purpose of the county Agriculture Hall of Fame is to recognize outstanding agricultural contributions by Hardin County people and to honor those who have brought distinction to themselves and the agricultural industry.   

Disgruntled postman

Ian Dellifield, portrays "Mr. Walker," the disgruntled postman in Thursday's holiday musical performance "Santa, You've Got Mail," by the Ada fourth and fifth graders. Performances are at 1:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Ada School Auditorium. Click here for more details.

Ada 4th and 5th graders present "Santa, You've Got Mail," twice on Dec. 5

“Santa, You’ve Got Mail,” is the title of this year’s Ada fourth and fifth grade holiday musical, according to Lori Wilson, elementary music director.

Performances are at 1:15 p.m. and again at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, in the Ada School Auditorium. The performances are open to the public.

Here’s a synopsis of the musical:

A disgruntled postman is tired of all the holiday letters and cards that create extra work for him around the many different holidays.

Songs include: Special Delivery, Going on a Sleigh Ride, Happy Kwanzaa, Feliz Navidad, Hanukkah Lights, Reindeer on the Move Tonight, and Santa Here's a Letter For You

Hey, kids! ReStore's kid's Christmas shopping spree is Dec. 7...Santa will be there

There’s a kids’ Christmas shopping spree at ReStore Community Center, 210 N. Main St., on Saturday, Dec. 7, according to LeAnn Pryor, executive director.

From 10 a.m. to noon youth receive one ticket per family member: each ticket is good for one free gift. And, Santa will be at ReStore during the shopping spree.

Several other events are happening this month.

It's "Merry on Main"

Members of the Ada High School choir performed Christmas carols in front of the Ada depot on Monday during the "Merry on Main" celebration that kicked off turning on the lights in the Depot Park. Click for a video.
