Where are they from? Here's a first-year ONU student profile

Note: This is the first in a series of interviews with ONU students, simply answering the question: "Where are they from?"

I was at the end of a line of cars the other day, which got me to thinking. Ada’s population seemingly doubles when ONU is in session. For the first time in my nearly 22 years living here, I wondered where the people I share this town with come from. I decided to find out.

I wandered around ONU’s campus and found 18-year-old freshman Psychology major Tessa Duffy, who sat down with me to talk.

Ohio Northern University ranked No. 2 by U.S. News & World Report

Ohio Northern University has been ranked No. 2 among Midwest regional colleges in “Best Colleges 2015,” which is published annually by U.S. News & World Report.

Ohio Northern has appeared in the top 10 of the publication’s Regional College Midwest Rankings for the past 23 years and in the top five for the past 10 out of 11 years.

It's lunch time at the Ohio Northern University pre-school. What's on your lunch plate?

Lincoln Highway chapter meets Sept. 16

The September meeting of the Western Ohio Chapter of the Lincoln Highway Association will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at the Van Wert County Historical Museum, 602 N. Washington St., Van Wert.

After dinner at 6 p.m., a history of the museum will be presented and guests will tour the collection.  Suggested donation for the dinner is $6.00. The public is invited.

International Ada

Ada's international flavor is evident at Ohio Northern University, where flags representing nations of ONU students are displayed in McIntosh Center.

15 minutes with Hannah Gamble, now in Chicago: “I miss the quiet”

Note: The Icon welcomes Torie Wright as a fall intern. She attends OSU-Lima where she is an English major. Torie is a 2011 Ada High School grad and will be contributing several stories to the Icon.

To start things off, tell us the name of your college, what your major is, and what year you are.

I go to VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois. I am a flute major here and will go on to be a music teacher. I am currently starting my senior year here.

What was the hardest part about first moving from Ada to Chicago?
