Love is in the air gift show and lunch on Feb. 7

Love is in the air and it's coming to Ada in February.

Community Health Professionals will holds a gift show and salad buffet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, according to Deb Curlis.

The event includes food and local vendors displaying great gift ideas for Valentine's Day. During the day there will be a salad bar and bake sale in addition to gifts available.

Evan Simon was Ada business owner, charter member of Lions Club

Evan W. Simon, 91, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at 11:50 p.m. at Hardin Hills Health Center, Kenton, surrounded by family.

He was born Jan. 3, 1924 in Hardin County, Ohio to Edward “Dutch” and Rosa (Badertscher) Simon, and they preceded him in death. On Aug.11, 1942, he married Dorothy Marie Baier, and she died Dec. 29, 2008.

Mr. Simon was a barber for 23 years in Ada and Dunkirk. He later owned Simon’s Sohio, retiring in 1987. He was a 1941 graduate of Ada High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Phillipines during WWII.

University present ‘Choreographers’ Showcase’ spring dance performance

The Ohio Northern University Department of Theatre presents the ONU Spring Dance Concert, “Choreographers’ Showcase,” on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

Approximately 40 ONU dancers will participate in the performance, which features the work of student and guest choreographers and works by guest artists, Thom Cobb, current president of The National Dance Education Organization and Bobby Wesner, Artistic Director of Neos Dance Theatre. This is the third time that the Spring Dance Concert has featured the choreography of ONU students.
