Ada is active this spring - check out these upcoming events

This is an active community. Here are several upcoming events that may be of interest to you. Check them out.

• A Lupus support group will meet at 7 pm on Monday, March 16, at Crossroads Church of God on SR 309 west of Ada. For more information call 440-717-0183.

• The Compassionate Friends will meet at 7 pm on Tuesday, March 17, at First Assembly of God Church at SR 81 and I-75. This is a support group for parents who have lost a child. The organization is for parents grieving the death of a child, whether the death was recent or not.

Ohio Northern University law review symposium to focus on criminal justice system

Ohio Northern University presents the 38th annual Law Review Symposium, “New Solutions to Old Problems: A Practical Look At the Rebirth of Rehabilitation in the Criminal Justice System” in the Pettit College of Law’s Celebrezze Moot Court Room on Friday, March 27.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. This symposium is open to the public. The cost for the event is $85 for individual attorneys; $75 for federal/state/local government attorneys; $65 for ONU College of Law alumni; $45 for ONU College of Law alumni who are Lehr Society members; $35 for non-attorney registrants; and $25 for non-ONU students.

ONU's Cody Lovejoy led nation with 24 pins against DIII opponents

Ohio Northern University  Senior Cody Lovejoy was honored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association with the Most Pins award for the 2014-15 season.

Lovejoy led the nation with 24 pins against NCAA Division III opponents, the most in any division. The award is given annually to the Division I, II and II wrestler with the most pins against opponents in his own division.

15 minute with Tom Gossel - not possible, but here's our attempt

The Icon caught up with Tom Gossel recently and our conversation when all over the board. Here's some of what we talked about.

Tell us about your background before joining the ONU faculty.
I earned the bachelor’s of pharmacy degree in 1963 from ONU. I worked five years in a community pharmacy, then began graduate work at Purdue University in 1968. I received my master’s in pharmacology/toxicology in 1970 and doctorate in 1972, both graduate degrees in pharmacology/toxicology and both from Purdue. I arrived in Ada the end of June, 1972.  My ONU contract started July 1, 1972.

Kiwanis pancake day: All you can eat, lots of full tummies in Ada

All the pancakes you could eat was all part of the 63rd annual Ada Kiwanis Club pancake day on March 14.

In all, 542 people were served in this annual fundraiser held at Ada school cafeteria. Monty Siekerman took photos of the event, which are below. Here are the photo IDs:
