University honors student leaders, organizations

Ohio Northern University celebrated ONU student leaders and their accomplishments during the President’s Leadership Dessert on April 29.

The DeBow Freed Awards for Outstanding Leadership as an Undergraduate Student were presented to one male and one female from each year on campus. Students are nominated for the award in recognition of their positive leadership in the campus community. They receive a monetary award, and their names are added to a plaque in McIntosh Center.

First-year awards went to Ashley Mast, a biology major from Apple Creek, Ohio, and Kenneth Barga, a pharmacy major from Burkettsville, Ohio.

Tulip season

It's tulip season in Ada. You'll see hundreds of the spring flower in various shades on the ONU campus. These plants are at the Main Street campus entrance.

Mustard Seed Cafe plans Mother's Day brunch

Mustard Seed Café, 562 N. Main St. Bluffton will be serving a Mother’s Day 4-Course Brunch May 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Reservations are suggested; call 567-226-1120.

Youth Group of Ada Family Center collecting clothes, food and toys for area family

Ada Family Center Area 51 Youth Group is holding a clothing, food and toy drive for four Ada youth who lost everything in a fire on May 4.

Items accepted include non-perishable food donations of all types. Persons wanting to make donations should contact Haley Smith at [email protected].

In addition, donations are being collection on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Community Health Professionals, 1200 S. Main St. Ada.

Special council meeting May 12

David Retterer, Ada mayor, has called a special council meeting for Tuesday, May 12, at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.

The purpose of the meeting is to enter into executive session to discuss terms of employment and union negotiations. 

The Streets Committee is scheduled to begin following the conclusion of the meeting.
